Question Favorite Lindsey Guitar Solos

Okee, folks...I'm bored, it's close to 7PM on a Sunday evening...so, let's make a list!! LOL What are your fave guitar solos of Lindsey's....I'm gonna be EXTRA thorough and do top 5 FM solos and top 5 solo...um....solos. In no particular order except #1.

FM

1. I'm So Afraid (The Dance) - Words CANNOT describe how this solo makes me feel. It's UNREAL how powerful this song is to me. It's so melodic...I mean, when you can hum along to a guitar solo....GREATNESS!!!!!!!

2. Tango in the Night - WOW!! Those ending notes....I get chills listening to them!!

3. Isn't It Midnight - SCORCHING!!! I love this solo, it's AWESOME!!

4. GYOW - CLASSIC solo, you cannot BEAT the Rumours version of this song!!!!

5. Come - Oh man....when I FIRST heard this song, that solo...I was like "OMG, he is ROCKIN IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO LINDSEY!!!!", man, I have 10 more days until I hear this LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Solo

1. Doing What I Can - There is just something about that solo that GETS me...I LOVE it...there's a particular part in it that is just AWESOME!!!

2.Countdown - TEAR IT UP LINDSEY!!!! TEAR IT UP!!!!!

3. Wrong - This solo is GREATNESS....there are so many good solos on OOTC!!

4. Johnny Stew - After he does that caveman impression...OMG...that solo KICKS!!!!!!!

5. This is the Time - This is the solo he talks about being one that someone his age shouldn't even be doing. LOL Oh Lindsey, this is EXACTLY what we wanna hear more of!!!!!!!

1 Street of Dreams (live)
When he goes into that ending solo is sends chills down my spine. Hearing him pour his sould into it just does it. Even though this isn't one of his power solos done on an electric, it is my fav prolly.

2 Go Your Own Way (FM Live LP)
WOW. It sounds like atomic bombs are going off when he plays the solos in this live version. Nuts.

3 Big Love
A solo withine a solo. I love it.

4 Countdown
Gimme the juice baby.

5 The Chain
CLASSIC

Default From my ever-changing favourites...

FM

1. I Know I'm Not Wrong - Wayyyyyyyy too short, Lindsey!!! It is so great to have an upbeat, major-key searing solo!

2. Eyes of the World - <--- same deal as above!

3. Murrow Turning Over In His Grave - I don't know how Lindsey managed to play a guitar that was on fire, but he did it with Murrow - this solo is the definition of searing!

No denying what you said here, Christy:....
Quote:
4. GYOW - CLASSIC solo, you cannot BEAT the Rumours version of this song!!!!
Every milisecond of that solo is ingrained in my brain - I often find myself 'singing' it

5. Running Through The Garden - I'm gonna go with this one - it really makes the song.... and we get two solos!

Mentions: Book of Love and Tango In The Night

Solo

1. Doing What I Can - Yep - that fierce part in the bridge is magic! I think Lindsey's on speed for this song..

2. Countdown - I especially love that little delay fade at the end - sounds so good. "Stings like a bee.."

3. Come - I'm gonna put it in the solo category - it was from GOS, and Stevie didn't add anything, even though Mick is on it (don't know about John). The solo is an escalating orgy of pure petulance! I was going to congratulate you Christy on getting to see it so soon... then all of a sudden I realised I will be seeing it eventually too!!!!! It hasn't sunk in at all I guessed - I never let myself believe they would come over here. We'll have to compare notes!

4. Wrong - Everything went wrong while this song just gets more and more right! We know where Lindsey belongs - in his studio making a lesiure line to heaven!

5. This is the Time - Yes - this is tops! Just total anger/frustation/noise/energy - raw and rockin hard!

DISCLAIMER: Ok, Lindsey's not a guitarist that I would list as "my favorites" (per my comments in the Pre-Rumours section), however, there are still many aspects of his playing that I LIKE and appreciate...so that said, on with the show:

w/Fleetwood Mac:

Blue Letter: simple, to the point.

I'm So Afraid/Tango In The Night/Murrow: all so similar I can't separate them...but, I still like 'em anyway!

Big Love: The Dance version...it would sound good even if he DIDN'T sing.

Book Of Love: the song is really pfffffft...but the solo over the fade out just begs for the song to be played live.

Sisters Of The Moon: One of Lindsey's best ever solos on one of Stevie's songs

Isn't It Midnight: ditto with Christine's tune...by far his best solo on the Tango In The Night album (even better than the title cut)...actually, I think this IS my favorite of Lindsey's Fleetwood Mac solos.

Solo:

Trouble: the second solo!

Loving Cup: not much guitar on the Go Insane album, but this one tears it up

Countdown: not so much from the album, but the version he did on David Letterman's show with Paul Shaffer & crew backing him just was awesome!

the intro to "Don't Look Down": What a f***ing great way to open the album!! Should've made the intro & the song just one track rather than splitting them up, though.

I took the intro and Don't Look Down files on my computer and put them together. Now when I listen to the song on my iPod, there isn't a stupid little interruption. I also did that with This the Time and Surrender the Rain.

This solo question is tough for me. I really like the Eyes of the World solo. Of course, I'm So Afraid is very cool. I also like This Is the Time and Tango in the Night.

I like the less rocking solos, you know those that are more in the country tradition of following the melody: Steel Your Heart Away, Love Minus Zero and Gotta Get Away come to mind. Beautiful, tasteful guitar work.

So many choices

I must say, as I have said earlier - the end of Bleed to Love Her on SYW just speaks to me (not so much on The Dance).

Same with GYOW on the Rumors record (not so much live - but still a lot).

I love NGBA/Stephanie (which are similar if not the same - its been awhile since I heard Stephanie).

Frozen Love (that is a live take for goodness sake)

TITN (rock equivalent of an avalanche)

Gypsy (just majestic)

Sara (so subtle - almost esoteric)

Having said that, the man could play just about anything and I would like it. So, for the moment the abovementioned will do!!!!

In no particular order:
Frozen Love
I'm So Afraid (either live or on the white album - I think the album version is very underrated, and would've been even better if Keith Olsen's production wasn't so subdued)
Go Your Own Way (studio)
Stephanie
Big Love (live)
Countdown
The Chain

The acoustic songs (e.g. NGBA, Big Love '97) are in a class of their own...they are undoubtedly Lindsey doing what he does best,
As for the electric rock solos...in no particular order....

Come (LIVE 2003)......I've come very close to ripping out the strings of my own Model One playing along to this......it's just....NUTS...and it ROCKS!

I'm So Afraid, You Make Loving Fun, Go Your Own Way (Dance CD)

The Chain (Mirage Video)
