Lock him up and throw away the key now! The President came off as rude to a group of people.

That's just bad logic. Because we have a fundie for a president, it makes it okay for him to make such statements? Would you feel the same way if we had an atheist president who said not to pray to Almighty God because he didn't exist and to just do something tangible to help instead? If religion has no place in government, why do you have no problem with the head of the government telling "all Americans to pray to Almighty God"?

No, that is not what you meant. You said "Nice try bud...sissy" - I 'll let that just speak for itself.

Conversely, I specifically referred to your argument as pathetic, which it was because, as I mentioned, you never support anything with facts.

OMG. That is not what I meant at all!

I said...."sissy, I mean liberal taunting"

sorry If I did not make that clear.

It is unsurprising that you do not care how rude the Pres. is to a certain sect. of Americans. BTW - exactly where in the DOI or the Const. does it say one has to be a Christian to be a good American, which is what I think you are implying.

No - I'm not saying that makes it ok - but what is going to be done about it? NOTHING! That's just who he is - we have three more years of it to deal with - it's what he believes - what are you gonna do?

If there were an atheist President (which polls have historically shown that it'd be really tough for an atheist to be elected to office) and doing the same thing - well it would equally suck - but again - what is one to do??

He's not mandating it - not making it law - it's a request - what I think is a heart-felt request.

Is it wrong and a slap in the face when Ledgies ask for LEdgies to pray for them, their friends and family?

What do you mean by that? Who is taunting who? Equating liberal with sissy is rediculous and you know it can be offensive. If you don't see how that can be offensive then I am at a loss.

I do not think anyone is arguing it is a law - which is the point you keep making. It is the use og "all Americans" that makes it sound like he thinks all Americans are or should be Christians, which they are not required to be. That is where the problem is for me. Again, this was carefully worded from the general "please pray for the victims" to "all Americans pray to Almighty God." That is sick IMO.

Of course not - they are not the Pres. of the US in an official act that is designed to insult and omit a certain sect of the population.

No Ledgie I know of holds public office where there is a clear distinction between church and state. And as far as I'm aware, a prayer doesn't necessarily involve God; a prayer is a fervent request or wish.

No no. strandinthewind thought I was actually calling THEM (sorry don't know if you are male or female) a sissy...which is NOT what I meant. I was calling the "taunting" sissy, or liberal, either one.

When you said "Lock him up and throw away the key now! The President came off as rude to a group of people." - I took that implication.

If, from that statement, you can somehow muster out "A non-Christian is not a good American"...then you can find anything!

Well, then, why is it okay for the Pres. to be rude to these people. He would never do that to Christians would he? That is where I was coming from.
