Lyrics to You Are
I've transcribed them.
Tell me, the whole thing isn't a dream I have opened my eyes and truly seen the color of your eyes the feel of your lips on mine well it took me a thousand years to discover that love is fine Chorus 'Cuz you are, everything to me the touch of your hand is like a blind man that now can see well, the color of your eyes the feel of your lips on mine well it took me a thousand years to discover that love is fine Will you slow down won't you give me some time I wait endlessly there's no reason or rhyme for the joy and pain you bring me I guess it's not a crime well, if it is, then you're guilty but somehow, we will be fine Chorus x's 2 Everything you are everything you feel belongs in a little way to me like a spinning wheel you know, you know, you know, you know....

sounds like she says "like a spinning wheel" there. . .at least that's what it sounds like to me. |

Yeah, 'like a spinning wheel' is what I heard. I guess she was chanelling Over My Head!
I love this song... "the color of your eyes the feel of your lips on mine" What Christine does best is melodise the lyrics, or lyricise the melody... either way, it gets stuck in your head!!!!!

Yep, that's why she's been the hitmaker for FM. Great track this is, and I can imagine this fitting well on the Say you will album.

I think maybe she is saying 'THE love is fine' instead of 'THAT love is fine'.
That makes a little a difference in the meaning, if you think about it. :-) I love the last two lines also, very sweet. It's so cool to hear new stuff from her. -Lis |

It's McVie with a little cheese on top. But I love her for it. The song is already stuck in my head. |

...I really like those two lines! I agree that 'fine' is a tragic word to rhyme with, but I guess that for me it's another case of Over & Over / Not Make Believe ... a sort of simple, honest, sort of bittersweet lyric. (*Call me crazy, but...)

Thanks for transcribing the lyrics, Christy. I also noticed the "spinning wheel" & "thousand years" connection. Christine's voice sounds fantastic. Someone in another thread described it as like honey. That's a perfect description. Like alot of her songs, this song has already gotten stuck in my head. "You Are" will have to tide me over until I get the album in my hands in about 6 weeks.

Well, much as I love Christine and can't wait to hear the CD, I have to say lyrics never were her strong point. Just about every line in this song is a cliche!

Her latter-day songs tend to have many cliches--some that come to mind=
"All Over Again," "Heart of Stone," "Love Shines," "Temporary One," etc. |
