I saw online some are saying they are doing the Beth Orton song.

I bet they are correct. He said the tracks on the album were unlick anything he's ever done and the Beth Orton song is alternative sounding. I don't really like the song that much. It's ok. Lots of words - sort of train-of-thought writing. Maybe it will better when they turn it into a duet, but sort of doubt it. Still, it's different. More different for him, than for her. Maybe it will grow on me. (Alternative songs seem to live in a grey area where you can't figure out if you like them or not.)

I wish she would stop doing these lame guest vocals. Have any of them in the past couple of years actually been any good?

I don't think this is the song. I'd think it would be a Taupin lyric. Maybe a T. Bone production. |

This is so cool. I really don’t care if Stevie or any of FM make another album, but the idea of Stevie and Elton John doing a duet? Just incredible! I actually wish it could have been Christine and Elton, but I’m sure Elton is doing it for publicity and that’s understandable. He has said he’s a FM fan and he did record Don’t Stop, so I’m excited to hear this. I haven’t liked a Stevie song since In Your Dreams, but the song she did with Maroon 5 was fun and catchy, so I guess I’d rather she just keep working with other singers rather than release a solo album. I wish she would work with John Mellencamp or Chaka Kahn, there are so many great artists out there.

Yes. Beautiful People, Beautiful Problems with Lana Del Ray. When you hear it you might think of 1970's Stevie.

I really liked the song she did with Leann Rimes, Borrowed. Although I liked Leann's version without Stevie better.... her voice reminds me of what Stevie's used to be... Not that they sound the same, but Leann has an agility to her voice where she can take it wherever she wants-- high notes, low notes, fast, slow etc which Stevie totally had in the 70s (Dreams is a perfect example or the high warble she does in part of Whenever I Call You Friend). Stevie lost her high end (no pun intended) after Rumours a LOT (she wasn't even able to hit the "high" notes on the "love you" bit of "players only love you when they're playing" on that tour... she whistled or 'hoo-hoo'ed" it) and then almost completely after Tusk. She managed to find it again on Sorcerer with Sheryl but she can't do it live at all anymore. When she's stuck with the low, gravelly harmony on these duets it just further reminds me of how she always did the higher harmonies on past duets (WICYF, even Gold or Midnight Wind--- which I am desperate to get a digital version of having lost my vinyl copy of the album. Anyone know of one??) and how much of her voice she lost due to not taking good care of it in her heyday. I mean you make your living from your voice, WTF are you smoking??? UGH.

Stevie taught Elton how to play piano, so this collaboration brings things full circle.
