Leo Sayer
What was Lindsey thinking?
What other collaborations by our man do you question? |

Also, I'm not quite sure what the point was for him to be working with the synth-drenched bubblegummers Dream Academy back in the mid 1980s. |

I agree with David's (but I like Leo Sayer!) Here are the ones I grimace at:
Danny Douma, Rob Grill, Kim Carnes, and some bizarre 80s group called "Espionage." But NOTHING Lindsey has ever guested on is as embarrassing as Stevie's appearance on Jessie Camp's "My Little Savior." (The same Jesse Camp who won the MTV "Be a VJ" contest.) I can't even listen to that. |

As far as Lindsey's guest appearances (and Stevie's), I've always just assumed they're on those albums because they were friends with the artist and/or the production team. And hopefully they've liked the songs that they've guested on. Just because we don't, doesn't mean they didn't.

I LOVE that Josie Cotton version...didn't even know Buckingham was involved until I'd already bought the LP and finally read the liner notes. Quote:
And, again a disagreement here...I really like the Danny Douma album...you get most of Fleetwood Mac, Todd Sharp, AND Eric Clapton, too! Saw Danny open for the Mac on a couple of the Tusk tour shows...great!

Also - I loved "Life in a Northern Town" by the Dream Academy and did not know LB had anything to do with that group. Ya learn something new every day hanging around here |

I still can't believe Stevie hooked up with Jesse Camp to sing My Little Savior. What was she thinking? That guy is a total idiot.

Speaking of Leo, I still have unbelievably vivid memories of the song When I Need You being played over the public PA system in the public garden where I grew up. We'd go there on summer nights. That song is stuck in my head for eternity, methinks.
And you know what? I don't even mind the tune so much. |

The other collaborations on that 1978 album with Leo aren't much to write home about, but I sort of like the collaboration on Something Fine. Pretty.

LB has made some odd choices of guest appearances. Most people wouldn't tend to associate LB with Leo Sayer, but, the guy did have some good songs (which offset the bombastic you make me feel like dancing) and if i remember correctly, waddy wachtel also played on the same Leo Sayer record.
LB's best contributions were to John Stewart and Walter Egan, in which LB lent a heavy hand to some of their records. LB's backing vocal on Tom Petty's Walls is great too. |
