Out of the Cradle Poll
Album #3 time. I had to remove three songs to keep it at 10. Based on previous posts/polls, I omitted This Is the Time, This Nearly Was Mine, and Say We'll Meet Again.
OOTC isn't one of my favorite of Lindsey's albums (blasphemy, I know), but I went with Street of Dreams, Countdown and Wrong. What are your top 3? |

OOTC is chock full of fantastic songs. It's sinful.
And I never really liked Doing What I Can until I heard it live. From the album, it didn't stand out to me. Now, I count it as one of my favorites. I'm going to omit UTS and L & O, but take those 2 away and Lindsey has a fine set of solo albums under his belt. The rest are incredible works. Michele |

Well, the second song that came to mind as a favourite (This Is The Time) wasn't even included so...
Also, HAD to include All My Sorrows just because I just have an inevitable emotional tug whenever I hear that song. Always was attached to the Nick Drake, Joan Baez and Paul McCartney versions of All My Trials when growing up, so knowing Lindsey did the song as well pleased me a LOT when I first heard this album.

Can't pick...I don't really consider "Out of the Cradle" to have individual tracks...to me it's one MASTERPIECE of work, beginning to end (like "Smile" or "Sgt Pepper").

I couldn't pick either. IMHO, this is the best solo album of any Mac member and easily blows away any post-Tango Mac album.

Wrong: LOVE the snarky, angry lyrics. The beat is even ominous and angry sounding.
Street of Dreams: It's so existential and dreamlike. Such a beautiful, contemplative song. Doing What I Can: I really like the galloping pace of this one. It's very indicative of the lyrical content- charging through difficult circumstances. As I mentioned in why I liked each song, one of the many things that's cool about OOTC is just how perfectly paired the music is with the content of each song. This really was Lindsey's masterpiece- not a word or note out of place.

Amazing album!
Soul Drifter - I want this song played at my funeral. It's just a simple, perfect, amazing song with positive lyrics. I love it tons.
Surrender the Rain- I like the carnival-like sound of this. OOTC is about renewal and new beginnings, especially after loss. It's such a positive album and all the songs are wonderful. Doing What I Can - It's really difficult to pick fave songs on this album, but this is my ultimate favorite. It grabs me and I usually end up tearing up when I listen to it.

It blows away Tango, for sure, too.

[From a February list of favorite albums for the Herald Review]
By Tim Cain, March 2, 2015 http://herald-review.com/blogs/tim_c...a2c276c84.html 365, Day 58: No. 308. “Out of the Cradle,” Lindsey Buckingham (1992) - For a stretch, Lindsey Buckngham was infallible to me. This is the first of five albums on this list for him and his version of Fleetwood Mac. His having unique tunings for every song on the album is fantastic. Favorite songs: "Soul Drifter," "Don't Look Down" |

Not sure if you're all aware of this podcast but just in case you're not...
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/...713066884?mt=2 There's an hour long episode episode dedicated to OOTC (033). Oh, and one about The Dance (027) is there as well, if you're interested.
