Oh no, it's political.

https://www.nme.com/news/music/stevi...s-week-3797256

"Nicks teased the imminent track in 2022 when she shared a poem titled ‘Get It Back’, as she urged fans in the US to register to vote in the midterm elections that year. 'Read the words to my song,' she said at the time. 'I wrote it for you.'

The poem includes the lines:

'I want to be the lighthouse
Bring you all together
Bring you out in stormy weather
I wanna teach you to fight'"

When I heard "fight" I didn't relate it with politics. I immediately remembered Rolling Stone called the band in 1997 "the lovingest, fightingest, druggingest band of the 70s". So I was going to post some sarcasm about her teaching us to fight, and that it would not be the most correct way.

You can hear the whole song if you can access Australian YouTube.

I LOVE that she is writing and recording again. I really like her vocal.

The credits are interesting. Sheryl Crow produced, and she wrote it with two guys I’ve never heard of before. Lori is on backup but not Sharon.

Default Someones posted the entire song on Twiter

Check it out kiddos:
You can hear the entire song. Good chorus. No real hook. Good production. Lots of whisper voices

The whole song has been posted on twitter. Yes, of course, it's political - just in time for the election, which is gross. I like the production of the song, but it's too wordy. I wish there would be rest periods when she would just shut up and let the music come through.

Overall, the song is too long and too preachy. However, it does make sense and I like the music, which is different. They needed to shave a minute off this song and could have easily. A lot of the words are redundant.

As usual, the song would be 10x better had she allowed a producer to actually do their job.

Also...I totally disagree on the stance that anyone in music or the arts doing something political is "gross". Ever heard of the 1960s?

Artists are allowed to express their opinions as much as anyone else. In terms of the public buying concert tickets or records - it doesn't negate the artists right to express their views.

Being a public figure does not automatically require them to be mute about anyone or anything.

But I think letting someone who never voted until their 70's(how RIDICULOUS is that?!?!) steer you towards their candidate, is like letting Stevie Wonder drive you around New York City.

She is an opportunist. Have you not been paying attention?

The song is way too long and dull.

I hear you on that. It is very ironic and a bit hilarious.

At the same time, there are tons of people who were never big voters who have since chosen to become active voters and there's no shame in that.

She truly is. She'd hitch her rusty old bumper to anything semi-relevant that comes along.

I typically only vote in the Presidential/Governor years. Like I GAF who the county coroner is.

If you're hoping to encourage your listeners to help prevent the continued rollback of reproductive freedom, what better time than before the election?
