The current guy plays, to my ears, like high school battle of the bands
Give me Rick or Jerry Marotta. Rick was probably the only highlight of the RAL tour. His brother Jerry pumped such life into many songs on OSOTM: Long Way To Go, Ghosts, Oooh My Love, Fire Burning, and Juliet. Not a coincidence those are the better songs on the album without a drum machine. Gosh they are so freaking good.

Scottie Crago was good too. I LOVED her Timespace touring band. OMG that was her best band ever. Les on guitar and an electric guitar Landslide were really cool. They made Scottie do a drum solo. I always hated those drum solos into Stand Back. Gosh remember the explosions they pumped into the beginning of Edge of 17. Just wow.

IMO, he has no clue how to play the groove that Stand Back requires. He goes cymbal. SPAT. cymbal. SPAT. Where Jimmy really, I hear, got the dance beat right on it that you could clap to.

Here are two Stand Backs. One from this year (first) and one from 2012 (where we also see Stevie wearing the original cape. Alas, 2023 doesn't mark 40 years since she's worn it!)

Its all style. The one you dont like is playing more traditional to the song's roots. It was a drum machine. Its also the more prevalent way its always been played. I also believe a phone camera is not picking up all the sound which is misleading.

Even Russ and Jerry play it that way

I disagree with you that Drew Hester plays it like Russ Kunkel. I hear kick drum with the cymbal when Russ plays it. I think Jimmy played it like Russ. Drew does cymbal then snare I believe.

Also, I don't think the album version has cymbal in the opening.

I always liked the performance of Stand Back with Liberty Devitto that was from a TV show in 83. He nailed it.

I can think of the perfect drummer for her.

MF plays Stand Back very well if that’s who! He has sat in for a few songs with her in solo shows. I always found Jimmy Paxson to do the best with the Mac songs in her solo set; they had the FM feel with him.
It’ll be interesting to see what Mick does this year. I know Crowded House is working on another album but I doubt Neil would have both Elroy and Mick on the tour.
I can’t see Mick doing any work with Lindsey if Neil and Mike are current members of FM

Yes and Marotta was good too. There is something about the Marottas that lures me in. The issue is taking a disco swish drum machine and making a drummer create his own version.

It probably does because she wore it on either the Rumours or Tusk tour also.

There are no current members of Fleetwood Mac.

I’d agree with you if Stevie hadn’t said last month that Fleetwood Mac doesn’t care if she sings Sara solo and if Mick had only said he thinks Fleetwood Mac was done rather than it was too soon to think about the future of Fleetwood Mac/stranger things have happened/and I even think he said we survived lost before.

She wore it in 2019, 2013, 2012, and I’m almost positive she wore it in 2007.

First of all you should know by now that anything she says at this point should be taken with a grain of salt and even that’s a stretch. LOLOL…

She’s done Fleetwood Mac material in her solo sets for decades. It’s just another dramatized/manufactured Stevie vs Fleetwood Mac for the sake of drama. Mick just said the band is most likely done. Nobody gives a darn about her doing Sara in her set.

Christine’s dead, John sold off all his equipment…

It’s Fleetwood Mac, so never say never, but it’s safe to say it’s over.

As for Stevie singing “Sara” in her solo concerts, John and Lindsey couldn’t care less, and Neil and Mike even less so. Mick might have an issue, but he’s grieving losing Christine and, subsequently, Fleetwood Mac, so that’s the least of his problems.
