Exclamation Christine (McVie) Perfect 1968 BBC recordings w/Chicken Shack torrent

http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-nfo.php?id=125593

Christine (McVie) Perfect--Her 1968 BBC Recordings with Chicken Shack The only live Christine w/ Shack and her earliest live recordings!!! (reseed by request)"

I was asked to reseed this '05 TTD torrent over here. Glad to oblige--it's very short. As I said, this is the earliest live recordings of Christine (later McVie), and the only live document of her with Chicken Shack. The partnership resulted in her first hit, a cover of Etta's I'd Rather Go Blind (not included here as the BBC recording has been released). From there it was on to another Mike Vernon group, Fleetwood Mac (she had already been doing BBC sessions with them before Kiln House). The rest is....

Duster Bennett fans will note his cameo here. All the rest of the details in the info file.

Obscure this be! Todd

1. When The Train Comes Home
2. Love Me or Leave Me
3. Mean Old World (with Duster Bennett)
4. It's OK With Me Baby

These are great. Damn, her piano on Love Me or Leave Me is fantastic, and her voice is in excellent form throughout. You know, I'm beginning to think the weak live vocals she did with Mac in her first two years had a lot to do with volume and how much (or how little) she could hear herself. These live performances have a live-in-studio feel, and aren't nearly as loud as a live show would be.

Thanks goldustsongbird!

I've said this before, but I think most of her early vocals problems were because of the equipment. On several early FM bootlegs, she complained about the monitors. If you listen to her Chicken Shack studio/BBC recordings, her voice sounds very, very good. It would seem those early live FM vocal problems eventually extended into the studio..."Morning Rain" & "Homeward Bound". By Penguin & Mystery To Me, she had sorted things out & her voice sounded great again.

Yes, I know this is your take on the issue--and I agree with it entirely. I think there's another factor. I get the feeling Christine felt the need to butch up her vocals on those first few tours. I mean, on the live versions of Morning Rain and Crazy 'Bout You Baby, the problem is more than simply struggling with staying in tune. She sounds as if she's trying very hard to sound tough, less feminine. Maybe this had to do with her joining a very macho band? Thoughts?

I'd never actually thought of that, but you may be right. She does sound pretty masculine on those early FM tours. I've often wondered what she sounded like live with Chicken Shack. Fleetwood Mac certainly was a more macho band than Stan/Chicken Shack. She has always said that her voice improved with practice. There was certainly a dramatic improvement in 1973, for whatever reason. Thank God for that, it's not really easy to listen to the live version of "Crazy "Bout You Baby" on the Madison box set , although the BBC version is excellent.

Hey, I listen to Christine/Fleetwood Mac when I do my housework. It's not so boring that way.
