Why cant we just enjoy a snippit of Lindsey and his daughter sharing a cute moment together without bombarding questions its not good enough or long enough.
Social media does not work that way. People dont send out 40 minute videos via twitter and tik tok I see this as no different when artists including Lindsey put out small snippets of them playing songs. IMHO its odd to bark: Where was the video recorded? Why does his daughter not ask who the woman was? Why does she not comment on his hair? . Its a simple father/daughter moment, not 20 questions. Perhaps someone can request Lindsey put out a 45 minute documentary to answer these questions. The video is not so much about the video which people want it to be. Its about watching it with his daughter. Where its uploaded on his youtube channel under videos or shorts is irrelevant to its purpose.
Then its rather self-centred. Youtube is an entertainment medium. The point is to entertain people. That wasn't entertainment. That was...pointless. If you are going to do that sort of thing, make it a bit interesting. Otherwise you might as well just have a quick private conversation and not record it or upload it at all. These band members have never been good at social media (actually Mick's pretty good). I hope this is just a snippet to test the waters and in future they may do things a bit better and deeper. It would be really interesting to hear the two of them have a proper discussion about some of his music/videos/projects.

I dont think it was meant for anything but showing them together. No question and answer session or documentary about the video, just a cute father/daughter moment together.
It's clearly meant to be lighthearted. Given that they were reacting to a video that Lindsey was involved in, it would have been worthwhile to ask some additional questions about the making of the video to get some interesting insights. They wouldn't be able to do that for a Harry Styles video or anything else made by a different creator. We've heard numerous stories about "Go Your Own Way" and "Never Going Back Again", but Lindsey has only discussed "Slow Dancing" on a few occasions to my understanding. As such, I was hoping that the format would open up opportunities for different stories from Lindsey other than the same ones we read about in interviews.

Shorts on YouTube often get thousands more views than longer-form videos. It's a gateway for potential subscribers and viewers to venture further into a channel's content. Besides, it's only the first video of presumably a series.

You nailed it again. Youtube shorts was a way to catch up to Tik Tok. More Tik Tok videos go viral faster because of the shorter videos. However Youtube is still the premier content creator. Its nothing to have 1 million subscribers on Tik Tok. The creator barely gets paid. But to have 1 million subscribers on Youtube is a huge deal and provides some really good money. Its harder to get subscribers on Youtube than Tik Tok. This is why content creators are not abandoning Youtube. Youtube recently surpassed Netflix to become the #1 watched streaming service in the world.

On another note we are all Fleetwood Mac members on this board. So much drama over a simple father/daughter watching Lindsey's 1984 video. I'll be Christine and shake that small baseball bat at people to keep them in line I did find the video cute, entertaining, and heartwarming. Not sure why so much more was expected.
If anything it would have been funnier to watch the Go Insane video for how ridiculous Lindsey looks in that lab coat, 24" high hair, and laser beams coming out of his eyes and his head spins around. Maybe it was too cringe for even Lindsey to watch
His Youtube channel is full of videos about 90 seconds long for maximum exposure. He talks about his sound, favorite parts of live shows, short clips of Never Going Back Again, and his watch video with his daughter. The video is very typical of his channel in every way.

Thank you for posting this! I started typing a response so many times that I just gave up. This is about exposure, keeping Lindsey's profile in front of people's minds, both his current fan base and potential new fans.

Furthermore, the current social media comments and trends relating to Lindsey are from psychotic Stevie fans who have NFI about the band, its history, or his role in creating the music. Often bashing him as an abuser or lesser than Stevie. The engagement with his daughter is both strategic and smart.

Many things are happening this year. A new FM documentary on Apple TV, with a prestigious filmmaker. The release of an autobiography. And I'd hazard a guess that he has a new album already in the can, ready to go. This is a marketing strategy, no more, no less.

But yeah... "it's not long enough", "no new information", "what's the point?".... honestly, with all bluntness, get a clue.

Just enjoy what you get from a 75-year-old musician.

Well….read through some of the comments on his clips. More than every other one moans about the length. I’ll stick to my guns….if you’re gonna do this….give it a bit of meat
