Default Fantasy Macball: The Dance Edition

Stupid thread title aside, I know this has been discussed numerous times before, but I figured I'd bring it up again, poll style!

In your dream version of The Dance, what song would you have had the five fireflies play? I'm using my top contenders for the poll, but if you chose "Other", tell us what & why!

Honestly, Seven Wonders & Little Lies really would be my top choices. Imagining a stripped down version of either, with their voices from this era & those harmonies we got on the album/video.. goosebumps. I think in particular, Christine would've sounded amazing doing her original harmony on the Seven Wonders chorus.

Funny how I agree and disagree. Though it's an unpopular song for many, I find interesting to hear a Seven Wonders Dance version. However, though it was a huge hit, I didn't miss Little Lies in this 1997 show.

Anyway, reading the poll list my choice is definitely Love in Store, I adore that song, it's even my ringtone.

Default Other Vote: “Isn’t It Midnight” or “Why”

Would have loved to hear either one. “Why” could have been another “Silver Springs” type of success.

Another one I've daydreamed about & forgot to include is Hold Me. It probably would've sounded great with the same kind of arrangement they gave for the album/video, and with their voices at the time.. Also, I know they did Farmer's Daughter on on the tour, but I really wish they would've closed out the video, after Songbird, with that one (though I know the captured performances on boots from the tour can't hold a candle to the "Live" album version. I love that hushed, sparse beauty, they sound absolutely gorgeous on it.)

Isn't It Midnight would've rocked! I've also thought how much a Dance era Sisters of the Moon probably would have brought the house down.

I guess a lot of my picks here have to due with wanting to hear some of the Tango stuff Lindsey never performed with them yet, upon quitting, and how they would have sounded with those lighter, refined arrangements.

Hold Me with just BuckVie singing verses would have been cool. Then the whole extra ensemble for the chorus.

I agree. That would be my pick. Although with the studio sound that was the Dance live, I am not sure Sisters would have packed the punch like it did with earlier tours. Technology of the late 90s had bands abandoning the big arena rocks sound for a more studio like sound.
Since we missed Lindsey on Tango tour, it would have been nice to get a few more tracks like Little Lies and Isn't It Midnight.
I am in the minority but never cared for the Dance version of Say You Love Me. I would have gladly axed it for Hold Me or Think About Me.
I would have even axed all new songs too. However the band wanted to sound fresh with "new" material. They also did not want to become a mass market hit concert and still played deep tracks like Oh Daddy. But the biggest issue I take with the Dance was the solo songs of Stand Back and a very long Go Insane. Just imagine axing those 2 songs along with Not That Funny. You could have put in some better songs. There was no need for Stand Back. The Mac was back and did not need Stevie's solo career to keep them afloat. Sara or Angel could have been the replacement. Lastly again I am in the minority but I would have axed Farmers Daughter for Love In Store. I think it would make a great encore with all 3 vocalists. Its upbeat and poppy and relatively short. All the reasons for a great show stopper ending.
I remember loving that Chris and Lindsey were back on stage with the Mac. I remember leaving a little disappointed. It was no Mirage or Fleetwood Mac live (1980) sound. I loved the 1990 farewell tour. It rocked. I much prefer Lindsey with the band but Fleetwood Mac live used to be a beast compared to the studio one. I again am probably in the minority but prefer a much more raw live format without so much backing musicians.

Little Lies, Hold Me, and Sara would have been so good on The Dance. I would love to hear what they would have sounded like.

I wish they had just fully embraced Rumours and did a set with the entire album. I think it would have to be resequenced because I can’t see the actual album sequence working live. I would’ve dropped the new songs too to get more of the older stuff in even though clearly they were on the Hell Freezes Over model. Bye bye to Stand Back and Go Insane.

Crystal would have been a great 1997 ballad with just a hint of modern technology to flesh out the old 70s sound. It deserved to be heard live as much as Silver Springs did. Never Forget would have been great, but the Burbank mini-audience probably would not have recognized it. I also wanted them to try an oldie in 1997, maybe something by the Beatles or Velvet Underground or early Bowie, for the chic factor.

I always thought this might be a nice acapella to their evening after Songbird.

Yes, I don't like Stevie on either of these (Hold Me/Think About Me). Oh Daddy, that's a different story. Stevie sounds amazing on Oh Daddy.

Can't stand her on Don't Stop and ISA as well.
