Thumbs up Live 12/12/1981

This is just an outstanding audio of this show. Incredible. Her mom is at this show and dedicates Blue Lamp to her. Just excellent versions of After The Glitter Fades, Bella Donna, How Still My Love, Angel and Blue Lamp. The quality of this recording has transferred to youtube very well.
Just a reminder how on top of her game she was these shows. Waddy is on fire during Blue Lamp.

"I'm not gonna talk anymore"

Ah, yes, the days when she would make fun of Lindsey for all his talking onstage and 'no one wants to hear that' .... how times have changed.

It truly was a moment. She was on top of the world and deservingly so. I would have loved to have been there. I wish she could have kept this focus for a few more years.

Reminds me of the Enchanted tour when she made it a point to mention "I usually don't talk this much, but this is an unusual tour because I've just released a box set etc"

LOL just wait ten years....

“So like, this next song. Yeeessss the next song - it’s like a really old song about a really amazing time. 1968!?!? The velvet underground!!! SAN FRANCIS-COOOOOO!? Let me tell you about all these amazing things that have very little to do with this song but I think they do and like, this is totally amazing and like, I’m so thrilled you’re captivated by me and this story which I will finish up in no more than 12 minutes!” Proceeds to ramble for the next 10 minutes and then plays a plodding monotonous 4 minute Gypsy.

Also, let me add this show is amazing. She was really on fire at this time. And I love Blue Lamp. Yet another song forgotten to the history books.

Enjoying this today. The Millard video says it’s the Wilshire Ebell Theatre (a common mistake for fans and the press to make), but in fact it was the Fox Wilshire Theatre (currently the Saban). It’s on Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills. It was an old movie palace that got renovated in 1981 and opened as a live venue with Stevie’s five nights in December. We used to see New Wave bands there in the 80s, like Depeche Mode and the band that sang “True.”

The Ebell is on 8th Street downtown.

Thanks for those details. The theater must of had incredible acoustics and sound for being a small side movie palace. All the more reason to appreciate these shows. While all similar its nice to hear a different night than the HBO recording. This is definitely not the HBO night because during Rhiannon, her intro is different and there is no "I wont forget you either."
