Default Welcome...

I'll get flamed for bringing this song up but do you think Stevie was 'inspired' by Welcome To The Boomtown by David + David for Welcome to The Room Sara? They don't sound similar but the title could have been an inspo

I dont hear similarities. The weird synthesizer is a little similar to the demo. However that sound is so generic it's nothing someone would copy. This song says the word cocaine. Stevie's song is all code language. To be fair there were tons of rehab songs in the 80s. One of them "Broken Wings" from Mister Mister. I dont think Stevie was copying anyone and wrote about her experience. I am not flaming you at all. We all hear different things in songs. I posted a song that I thought had a brief sound of Welcome to the room on the other thread. I dont think it was a copy and maybe others dont hear what I hear. Although part of me was joking about it. I much prefer Escape From Berlin as her rehab song. No code language there. The title also reflects her ditching rehab and running away early which is something that seems to be re-written. But Stevie timestamped it with the title of the song.

According to Mick's first book, the song is a graphic depiction of her experience at the Betty Ford Center, where she had checked in under the pseudonym Sara Anderson.
