Man you should of had your gold shawl with you. You could have done the crack head dance on the boat.
I bet you did that little wave Stevie did to the camera on her HBO concert to your friends.

My rich Republican family would have loved that!

I waved little Stevie Johnson at the sommelia, after a poor wine pairing.

That sounds like a dive bar band from rural Indiana or something. A very Pence crowd and a few Dan Quayles too.

Today on the 80s countdown this week in 1982 Gypsy was at its peak at #12. Ironically a song from the Fast Times soundtrack, Jackson Browne's Somebody's Baby was at #13. It made me think that one of Stevie's best songs was given to a teenage comedy movie that was sort of lost. But back then the cutting room floor even for Bella Donna was full of gems. Alan Hunter said something that I necessarily dont believe. He said that Gypsy was supposed to be on Bella Donna but she "purposely" yanked it to give to Fleetwood Mac. Has anyone heard that before? I find that odd since there were many songs that were supposed to be on Bella Donna but they had to limit to 10. No doubt it was a demo that could have been on Bella Donna but with the intent of its so special it needs to go to the Mac seems a bridge too far.

This is true.

She originally worked out/developed Gypsy with Tom Petty during the Bella Donna recording sessions.

I have about 4 hours of Gypsy Master Reels. So many different versions. Arrangement and tempo are very similar to what ended up on Mirage. Just doesn't have Lindsey distinctive guitar playing.

So she thought it was "too good" for her first solo album? Could be true but does it not sound like Monday morning quarterbacking? She just had a monster solo album and was giving away Gypsy as a consolation prize?
She should have kept Sleeping Angel and given Fast Times Gold and Braid.

According to Mick she "saved" Gypsy for Mirage.

Stevie's songs including the utterly majestic "Gypsy" were what she had saved for us after recording her first album, Bella Donna.

No one disputes she "saved it" for the Mac just like she "saved" Thats Alright and other songs.
I never heard that she "pulled it" from Bella Donna to give to the Mac with the intention it was intended for them. If you are rehearsing the song for your solo album that means you intended to use it. It just did not make the final cut like Gold and Braid and others.
You could make that argument about Thats Alright too.
IMHO it just seems because Gypsy turned out to be such a defining Mac song that she may be embellishing the story a bit. Lets be real, if Jimmy wanted it on Bella Donna or thought it should be on Bella Donna....it would have been on Bella Donna.

Are you saying that Stevie is full of sh*t?

You're not wrong, with the exception of your obsession with Mike Pence.

Do FM related dreams count as unexpected? I dreamt I saw Chris eating egg rolls in a Chinese restaurant in downtown LA. She was waiting for the rest of the band to join her.

I recently had a dream about her, too. I can't remember the dream content, however.
