I hear in both of these songs a noticeably different approach to the material, in both cases because they originally used studio affects and engineering to make those tunes seem stranger, spacier than they actually are. No weird reverb on Over and Over. The live version is warmer—and the instrumental jam at the end is powerful. This rehearsal for “The Ledge” sounds like they are un-weirding the song, singing it straight as the zany but entirely charming rockabilly number it truly is. |

I’d be interested to hear a “straight” rockabilly version of “The Ledge” by someone like Chris Issac and a pop-country cover of “Over and Over” by anyone (man or woman) who could tackle singing this ultra-simple song half as movingly—and without vibrato.

Haha please no "vibrato".

"As little vibrato as you can go for, Stevie", then Lindsey and Christine give each other that knowing look, behind her back.
My FAVORITE moment in the outtakes DVD.
