NME June 13, 2015 Fleetwood Mac review
I found this concert review for the band's On With the Show Tour. Nothing groundbreaking is revealed here, but it provides a snapshot of how the band was perceived by the press in 2015.

Well it's no surprise to us the article described it more like a West End musical than a gig. A bit exaggerated in my opinion, but it makes sense comparing OWTS with the Mirage concerts. Though I think the comment was meant in a positive way. Anyway, I enjoyed a lot the 2014 NJ show, it was the farewell to me.
Loved the mention of the Cotswolds. I'd love to be there, too. And I really wonder if the victorian wenches looked like that. After her rhythmic ‘Rumours’ gem ‘You Make Loving Fun’, she graciously thanks the crowd from behind her keyboard. “You don’t get this chance many times in life - I got it twice,” she gushes. Not sure what she meant. I guess it was about being in Fleetwood Mac. But twice? I think she left the band twice, so there were three chances, weren't there?

Aw, this review fills my heart with a little joy. Back in the late 1980s or early 1990s I remember reading a brief mention about a Stevie album in either the NME or the now long-defunct Melody Maker which ended "and Fleetwood Mac should be shot in the back of the head." Even I didn't think that "Behind the Mask" merited that..

It's crazy when you think about it. The lack of output of new music from Fleetwood Mac after The Dance.

I think the lack of output of new music after The Dance is dissapointing, but not maddening. I mean it didn't surprise me.
They just released SYW, and that EP with those songs I don't even recall. Eagles just released Long Road Out of Eden, Guns N Roses also released only one new album lately. And The Police just did what most bands do when they reunite, a tour. How many bands that have reunited this century have had a prolific release of new studio albums? For many reasons they are no longer active as they were at the time. Mostly we have just more tours, and live and compilation albums. I think solo artists remain more active than the bands in the present, in terms of new material.

I agree. The music business model has changed this century. In the past, tours supported album sales. Now it's totally the opposite. And for the old bands, the records are not even a priority.

I'm glad when Christine put two albums out (one solo) and BuckVie when she came back. As much as she said she didn't have the bug to write, she was a LIAR! She's the jack of hearts!!

X released a first-rate studio album, Smoke & Fiction, last summer. Again, critically acclaimed. Nobody in Fleetwood Mac operates at this exalted level. But it is possible to make good music today and to put some passion and personality into a studio album, whether you’re young (Levitation Room) or old (Dylan). It requires a desire to say something even if you don’t make gazillions.
