Ladies, please get your hpv vaccinations. Even if you plan to abstain until marriage/beyond, the three short pricks with a needle DO NOT COMPARE to the pain you could potentially save yourself from. To be cliche, life is what happens when you're busy making other plans. Getting the shot isn't admitting that you're having sex, it's making a responsible choice and being in control of your body.

I leave Boston in three days! It's strange; this is the first semester I've really felt any connection to this city and the people in it. I never thought I would say this, but I really don't want to leave.

There was just a story in the Charlotte Observer of a woman in her 30s who was dying of cervical cancer... her only wish was to see her son graduate. By the time the story went to press, she had died without her wish coming true. Truly heart wrenching

. If I were a woman, and I hadn't received the vaccine yet, I'd be calling my Dr tomorrow...

Marissa is right. The HPV vaccine is important. If you don't have it, get it.

One of my dearest friends, who is only 28, has been battling cervical cancer for the past 6 months now. She's had to have a hysterectomy, part of her cervix removed, and more taken out, and they still aren't sure they got it all. She goes in for another biopsy this week.

It's important. Nothing wrong with trying to lower your odds, regardless of your current state of sexual activity or your plans regarding same in the future, yes?

Oh god, you'd hate to be me. I have a thyroid problem so I have to have blood tests done every month. Needles don't really bother me anymore to say the least.
