The relevant part: On Fleetwood Mac co-tour - (Timothy) just emailed manager to ask what was going on - manager said that is not happening! Was being pursued but doesn't think it will happen, they are going out in the summer. no idea if they are touring with another band

Thanks for the heads-up! I think the blurb should be clarified (and put into context). The poster's writing is a bit unclear, but I think the "they" in they are going out in the summer refers to The Eagles, not FM. At least that is my interpretation.

I just listened and this is what he said, word for word:

Simon Mayo: "There was talk of The Eagles doing a stadium tour with Fleetwood Mac this year. Is there any chance of that happening?"

Timothy: "Well, erm, I just emailed our manager this morning and asked him that question - what we were doing during this summer and I didn't specifically ask him that but he did, he told me about that and it appears that that is not happening. So all these big rumours are just simply rumours. I think that it was being pursued for a while, that was the reality, but I don't think it's gonna happen. But I think we are still going to go out this summer but I'm not exactly sure with who or with anybody."

Simon Mayo: "So there's a chance The Eagles might be touring with another band?"

Timothy: "I think so, I think it's all up in the air at the moment. We are playing by ourselves, just us, during the Spring. We're starting at the Hollywood Bowl in April and we're gonna do a handful of shows and then we're going to take a break to probably mid-summer. I don't know what that schedule is yet."

I'm sorry for being unclear. I was posting quickly between classes (I'm a teacher). Yes, "they" refers to the Eagles.

It just feels like hypocrisy of the highest order and FM's biggest sellout. Imagine Stevie solo touring with Lindsey Lohan after her comments about her, it's kind of how I feel about Lindsey/FM touring with with the Eagles with Tusk/The Long Run in the background somewhere.

That's not to say it won't be entertaining and there won't be a new album, etc, the very idea just grates on me, that's all. A double billing of two bands such as these (as big as these) just screams cash grab with no real up side, unless you're rich of course. Combine that with the Lindsey/Eagles deal and I have a bitter taste in my mouth.

This is how I feel about it, too. I think it would be selling out to the nth degree and that it will hurt both groups 'in the long run' (pun intended). I have no problem with the Eagles. I have most of their albums. I really enjoy Glenn Frey. I would not mind seeing them in concert. I just think that a tour together would spell disaster. Casual fans would lose respect for Fleetwood Mac if they lower themselves to an 'opening band'. It would make Fleetwood Mac seem very desperate. Hopefully, it isn't going to happen. I'm glad, because I feel it would have been a big mistake. It's one thing for LB to play on Don Henley's album. It's quite another to be his band's opening act.

Hopefully its because Fleetwood Mac decided that they are going into the studio to mix some tracks with some outside producers!

The called it off because they saw the 98 - 37 vote against the tour in this thread and thought "Oh, we'd best not p*ss off anybody at The Ledge - Those guys can get crazy!"

Outside producers... Lindsey... Hell, John can be producer so it can turn into a blues jam album and he can finally be happy with how loud his bass is. I don't care as long as we get something.

Actually, I'd not half mind that Blues jam idea.

Looks like all they did was have some preliminary discussions and held dates at some stadiums (something that needs to be planned far in advance, especially baseball stadiums- not necessarily a sign the date would ever happen). Never has there been so much discussion centered around a single (planted) story.

You can't call off something that was never on.

Honestly, i don't even think the Eagles or the Mac knew about this rumor. It was most likely a management decision to release the speculation of a joint tour to obtain press, which they did, successfully.
