I don't know if Ken said that or not. The very next paragraph is Lindsey talking:

And when Nicks rejoined Fleetwood Mac for the intriguingly Tusk-like Say You Will - he found her ready to forgive - and not forget, but laugh about “the time you threw that Les Paul at me” and such..

“Now, on the road, we’ve had many really good talks,” he says. “We’ve known each other most of our lives and yet we’re still trying to figure out what’s going on. Obviously, a lot of love as a subtext. But where is that love? How do we get in touch with any of that? For all of us, the decisions we make now are going to determine how we are as people until we die. Stevie and I are trying to look at it...with care.”

He grunts a laugh. “It’s significant that someone can end up, you know.... not having killed you!”

When it comes to interviews, she's never heard the phrase "Always leave them wanting more." Her interviews always leave me thinking I've heard way too damned much. I much prefer the Mark and Brian kind of stuff or that recent one about her niece and the computer.
So? Just because you don't like her interviews doesn't mean she's always lying. And just because she chooses to reveal some personal things, doesn't mean she wants to reveal all of them.

I might tell someone something really personal, but keep other personal things to myself, for various reasons that only I know about; I assume Stevie is human in the same way.

For instance, take you - didn't you tell everyone here you were bi before you even revealed your name? Or posted a picture? Most people would say that revealing your sexuality is much more personal than telling someone your name, and yet that's what you did. For reasons known only to you. Isn't that exactly apropos of what Stevie did? Yet you say it's wrong, and inconsistent, and ridiculous, and that now she's lying about everything.

I really don't think you are allowing for any human complexity in your evaluation of Stevie, honestly. Though you and most humans contain the exact same complexities.

Perhaps, but that doesn't really speak to what we're discussing....nor does it speak to any of the points I had in the post you quoted.

Again, more twisting. I never said Stevie Nicks is a martyr. I've always maintained that she is a flawed human being, just like any of us. And, like ANY human being, she's full of contradictions and inconsistencies and faults.

Not to get personal, but I recall you telling folks that you were straight when you first started posting here. I did the same thing in 1997 when I first started posting on the Ledge.
And neither of us is too straight now, are we?

So are we to always be held accountable for not being completely honest about something extremely personal to us?

I've never said Stevie Nicks is perfect... only that she deserves as much consideration as any one of us does.

As I've said before, if you're so sick of Stevie's interviews, then stop reading them or listening to them. It's what you tell people who say they're sick of certain thread discussions, so I'd think the advice would apply to you too.

I never said she was necessarily lying, just that her stories change on a constant basis and she can't keep them straight. Who knows if he threw a guitar at her, but I do find it suspicious that she's the only one claiming it.

Your point? I dislike many of her interviews because I think she divulges too much already. I certainly don't want to hear more personal stuff.

And it's not okay to point out the contradictions in her statements? The girl goes from talking about how she can start up a solo album tomorrow because she doesn't stop writing, to saying that she hasn't written a song in two years. Cheese whiz, man.

I won't presume to know why her cocaine stories changed over the years, the fact of the matter is that they did. Her changing stories are not about that one topic, but a myriad of them. It's simply a pattern with her.

Which is fine, but if she's going to give interviews that contradict her previous statements or the statements of others, it should be fine to discuss them.

But if I stopped reading them, how would I be exposed to the good ones like the one about computers and text messaging? It's a catch-22.

There's not much else I can say to address your points, I've already made my opinion known and it's 3 in the morning here. I'm going to bed, hon.

Your point? I dislike many of her interviews because I think she divulges too much already. I certainly don't want to hear more.
My point is that you can't seem to reconcile the fact that she may feel differently at different times, which doesn't make either feeling untrue, and does not make her any more inconsistent than most people. And this assessment of her causes you to automatically think the guitar story is not true - and she's not the only one claiming it, if I'm reading the mojo article right - and to do so with an unreasonably vociferous inflexibility about it.

My point about the interview/personal thing is that for you to tell us that she should have revealed her coke thing truthfully much earlier because she told a bunch of other personal stuff - and that because she wasn't truthful about the coke right away, that you generally cannot believe her, and that is why you don't believe the guitar story - is not a logical conclusion to draw. IMO.
Note that none of my point is about whether you like her interviews or not. Never has been.

You really don't see the difference between these things and claiming someone threw a guitar at you?
If not, then you are oversimplifying your capacity to understand humans to an insane degree.

I never said she should have revealed anything about her coke use, all I said was that her stories changed and that she didn't candidly talk about her coke use. That's her deal. I have no argument with what Johnny Stew said about her possibly having unresolved issues about the whole thing because he's probably right.
