Well I think what you are leaving out is, there are people who are in fact ,not like you and hold VERY CONSERVATIVE ideals or VERY LIBERAL ideals..it's not always that the very liberal person AUTOMATICALLY thinks everything the very conservative person says is wrong just for the sake of causing an argument--often their beliefs are that far apart that they can sometimes not agree on anything. However in my case, I don't think everything conservative is bad, and believe it or not I'm more of a moderate.

And I'm not "normal" because I have a different opinion about how the country should be run!? Hmmm...well, whatever floats your boat I imagine. I suppose "tolerance" stops with conservative views.

Thank God I have other people on the ledge whose friendship I value.

This is not really related, but I was wondering if in your own life, do you have any liberal friends? This is based purely out of curiosity and nothing else.

I think the word is one of the most violent words in the english language and should be done away with! No one should use it...not blacks and, of course, not whites.

It's the personal nature of the conversation to a degree I don't stand as well, although it does help provide a background on the person, the seeming inability to recognise that in this argument really no one in what I have read has been able to back it up with anything substantial...I mean both opinions ae unsubstantiated...hell I don't even know what the opinions are on anymore, it has just become a slanging match

I think you are not normal because what you believe flies in the face of logic, science, and all the information we know about how the world works best.
I'm not blindly ideological, I'm blindly intellectual. What that means, is that I study all science, I study all history, I study all sociology, I study all biology, I study all physics, I study all economics, throughout history....
And then I form my opinion, based on all the information that is available to me.
The fact that you do not, is the great divide. It's not my intolerance, trust me.
It's merely your ignorance of all that you could know that presents the great divide. Good try, though!

Reagan pushed through the Kemp-Roth tax cuts that slashed marginal rates 25 percent. Of course most liberals say that his tax cuts were "irresponsible" based on deficits. That is, of course, nuts. Federal tax revenues went up under Reagan's two terms, from $517 billion in fiscal 1980 to $909 billion in fiscal 1988. Hence, the massive Reagan deficits were due to spending that grew even faster than revenues.

side note...also the rate of inflation was higher in the Carter years than under Reagan

And of course I don't make opinions based on "all the information that is avaliable to me." Why would I go and do a silly thing like that.

I thought you were leaving?

That seems to be an about-face from:

these numbers are from early in his administration. Who was President before him? Thank you...
No?
