Yes unfortunately a countries citizens are tarnished by it's government.. Look at Zimbabwe for instance..

I think when Bush does eventually depart things will improve greatly.. He is seen as a bit of a laughing stock in general, which to be honest the media helps with on both sides of the atlantic.. It's difficult to know how Americans feel about Blair from this side... George Michael got heavily criticised for likening him to Bush's dog...

To tell you the truth...I think it varies in America about how Americans perceive Blair...Bush supporters in the USA love him, and non-Bush supporters seem to just view him as another Bush...but in the UK instead, since they seem so closely aligned.

And also to be honest...Most americans could care less about the governents of other countries...it's sad I know...The world seems greatly interested in American politics, but the MAJORITY of Americans likely had no idea who Blair even was until this war began.

LOL, that's great, I would kick that up a notch and say he is Bush's "b*tch" but imagine if a recording artist said that? It's pathetic, people can't even speak their minds anymore. Bless GM for saying that!

A fabulous place with stupendous ambience, bad food and high taxes. It's been calling me ever since I wanted so badly to go over when the Mac was there.

AARRGGHHHHH - pet peeve - artists are always free to speak their minds and they certainly did for Kerry in that huge concert promoting Kerry that was lead by The Boss.

But, artists should not be surprised if people judge them for their political views - and that judgement cuts both ways in that both sides do it I mean many people cannot stand artists who speak out for W and refuse to buy their records on that basis So, I think they can talk about politics all they want - but there are repercussions for that. In a way that is sad, but I certainly do it even though I try not to - I think on some level we all do. I mean if I went to the doctor and as she was examining me, she started extolling the virtues of W and his cronies, I would be offended as I am there for medical treatment - not a lesson in politics - and I certainly would not go back Conversely, if that same doctor started lambasting W - I would go back. To me that is the same thing and it has nothing to do with the quality of the medical treatment

Anyway - I know what ya mean - it is just a pet peeve of mine

But - back to the topic at hand - England is a FAB. place. I love London and I really love Wales and the Cotswolds!!!!!!!

What is your pet peeve? That artists speak out politically and then are suprprised by a backlash? I see that point. It depends on context. If GM was asked what he thought about Blair's relationship with Dubya it is different from doing some charity thing and randomly blurting out what he thinks. But it is scary when a band like the Dixie Chicks says they are ashamed that the president is also from Texas and it turns into this huge CD burning hate fest. Granted what they said was unpatriotic but from their point of view Bush is a monster who knowingly has marched our troops in to kill innocent people. Blablabla. I just hate it when people say artists shouldn't say anything, why shouldn't they?

Anyway, I never had a desire to go to England until recently but now I REALLY want to go! I think of bland food, stuffiness, really old stuff, and Big Ben. I guess I've got some things to learn!

That's too funny, I never knew about that place. There's Something About Mary and Me Myself and Irene have a lot of references. It just cracks me up. I grew up listening to HJY so I would always hear ads for the Living Room, the Foxy Lady (legs 'n eggs) and I can't remember the others. Some people I knew used to get "stuff" at the Living Room parking lot. Crazy stuff!

One of the Farelly brothers played at the Celebrity Hat Trick tournament that Leary puts on to benefit the firefighters. He came out with a beer helmet on and played goalie, what a silly wack job! He did take the beer thingy off when play started.

Oh I totally agree artists, like anyone else, have the right to say whatever they want. My pet peeve is when people think people have no right to react to what an artist says about politics; that somehow artists are immune from any backlash for piping off about political opinions (not that you were saying that ) - I was just noting that we all judge people for that - granted some harsher than others

As for the Dixie Chicks, I think what happened to them was a total lynch mob mentality. I think the conservative media saw the outrage some people were having over it in the highly conservative country music medium and then the media fanned it into a frenzy. As I noted then, and I still think this way, the DC were scapegoats - pure and simple and I think that is ashame. I mean the conservative media asserted with a straight face that the random comments of some singer in a band actually aided and abetted OBL as well as SH and his evil regime I mean come on I also note that they media picked on some IMO silly girl instead of say, The Boss - once again sexism knows no limits

Anyway - this is now a ramble

Newport is a playground for rich people and middle class wanna be rich people and playboys! There's also the mansions there that are gorgeous but were merely "summer homes" for some notable richies of days past. I guess RI is pretty kewl. Hi neighbor

Yeah that used to be the jingle but not any more.

They have the Waterfires on the river downtown right across from Providence Place Mall.

Newport is a place for college kids to hang lately. They like to go bar hopping down there.
