I haven't flirted since 1979, and even then it didn't work! I got an exciting piece of chicken, jello, and a cookie. And of course - being a milkaholic - a glass of milk.

Daniel, I know what it feels like when a lot of bad things happen 'at the same time', then you just see Everything in a bad light.
I'll never forget what I learned in a sociology class once: the pessimist is always right, but the optimist gets much more done/is a happier person etc..

can I join in with some personal ranting? I always feel like a nag when I do, but whatever.
Part of the company I work for has gone bankrupt, and that means my favorite colleague, a woman my mum's age that just feels like a surrogate mummy, has lost her job.. and now it feels like I hate everyone here because she's gone! Pretty selfish, because she's the one who has lost her job, and I'm feeling sorry for myself here.

I won't start about my crappy family and about feelings of loneliness, often think I'm the only one with problems like that but when I read this thread.. more sentimental group hugs!

Just wanted to thank you people for this thread and the things you've written in it. Loneliness and depression are all too familiar for me also, and add to that the insecurity of my future and so on. Good to know I'm not alone, I guess one needs reminders like these once in a while.
