See, I think 'Lost' gets more and more interesting each week, as we get another "clue" or piece of the puzzle.

And as far as nothing happens... well, they are on an apparently deserted island, so they have to keep the show building for a while. If they do too much too soon, the show will peak and the won't have anywhere else to go with it.

At least that's my opinion.

Plus... it's more of a character study than an action-oriented piece, and that can often add to the vibe of "nothing happening."

Amber... the 'Simpsons' has (had?) a LOT of heart.
As much as the family fights, they love each other (witness episodes where Bart and Lisa look out for one another, or Homer takes two jobs to buy Lisa the pony she's always wanted, etc.).

There's even love for and from the "supporting cast" (Homer's friendship with Barney, the care Lisa has for Ralphie even though he drives her crazy, etc.).

The 'Simpsons' can actually be enjoyed on many levels... slapstick comedy, pop culture kitsch, pointed satire, reflection of family values (though definitely not the conservative idea of what "family values" means), and so on.

It's not "heart" in the 'Cosby Show' or 'Seventh Heaven' kind of way, but it's "heart" nonetheless.

I mean it hadn't had any (although, i never really looked at those things much) I meant that i don't care much if it has heart. I mean, i guess i'm glad it has a little, but i never cared about that specifically, or really noticed it. I just thought of it as a kick ass comedy cartoon...but yeah, of course it can be enjoyed on many levels. But for instance, i don't really like the episode much where Bleeding Gums Murphy dies, little too high a sap/comedy ratio for me. it's cool you like the "heart" parts, i guess, tho... It's like when everyone got mushy on cosby and family ties, i'd be all *barf*. Simpsons never affects me that way. Any frickin ways...

I like it, don't get me wrong, but a lot of it has been pretty dull recently. If it keeps going down this path, people will lose interest in it just like they did with Twin Peaks and ratings will drop.

I still love "The Honeymooners" & "I Love Lucy" & even "The Andy Griffith Show," & they haven't filmed a new one of any of those for a long time.

I used to love "Cheers," but now it just lands THUD on my loose stool.

I would just like to say that whoever invented this whole TV on DVD thing should get the Nobel Peace Prize!

Here are some of my current favorites:

The Simpsons-(Say what you want. This show is still inventive...will anything ever beat The Monorail epsiode? Sherri Bobbbins (my all time fav)? or the one where Homer gains 300 pounds to get on disability? Of course not. But you have to give them credit for going on 16 seasons and still having enough fuel to continue. Plus I have seasons 3 and 4 on dvd, and SEASON 5 COMES OUT DEC. 21ST!!! CAN YOU SAY: CHRISTMAS )

Family Guy-Need I say more. Laugh out loud TV at its finest, I cherish these dvds.

Curb Your Enthusiasm- X-rated Seinfeld. What will Larry get himself into next? (I have the first 2 seasons on dvd)

Arrested Development- recently got into it after purchasing the first season on dvd. Its a REALLY funny show...I wish it could gte more ratings though.

Desperate Housewives- Guilty pleasure

Las Vegas- Half naked women...Vegas....drools....

Survivor, Apprentice- My reality TV block

The OC- Rich kids in Cali with adulterous parents? C'mon, can we beat this?

The Sopranos- one more season

Shows that I watch repeats of that I LOVE

Married with Children- I can not watch an episode of this show without laughing out loud! (I have the first 2 seaons on dvd)

Al: Make me an offer for that computer.
Marcy: 30 bucks.
Al: I said for the computer, not my life!

Seinfeld (I can not be happier the first 3 seasons are out on dvd in less than 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!) No more tv on dvd for you!

Just Shoot Me-fresh and funny. (I have the first 2 seasons on dvd They rock)

Becker- I LOVE THIS SHOW. They need to release the dvds for this!

Shows I used to watch but now hate

ER-Gone WAY down hill. DNR.

Friends- funny, but tiring

Lost tonight was GREAT. They've got me hooked for next week with that teaser. I'm totally J.J. Abrams' bitch. He's even got me watching Felicity on DVD, for the love of god. (Uh, Felicity? is psycho. Everytime I watch a new episode I shake my head because she's *crazy* and they act like it's normal?)

Anyhow. I'm a lot more curious about Sawyer's real name than I am about whatever it was that Kate did. I could care less about her. I liked seeing Claire and the hobbit together. I think it'd be nice if something came out of that.

When I talk about "heart," I'm not talking about it like I want some Danny Tanner/Full House/Stephanie thinks she looks ugly with glasses and we should have a heart to heart about it types of moments. I don't like SAP- the Simpsons just used to have an emotional core that's missing in recent years. I cared about the characters, which made me love the show that much more. They're just caricatures now. Perhaps I'm silly for wanting a CARTOON to have an emotional core- but I'm not alone in being aggravated with it.

I mean, sure, it's still FUNNY- it's just lost a lot of the intelligence that used to make it what it is, now it's all buffoon-ish.

But what do I know? I'm watching Felicity on DVD (I wish there was a vomiting smiley)

You know whats interesting? The fact that after 16 YEARS of this show, we are still talking about it. It has broken record after record. No matter what, The Simspons will always have its place in TV histroy as one of the most inventive and original shows ever.

about how most US created animation no longer has any character's with an emotional base.

I like character's that are developed instead of being one-dimensional, Which to an extent has happened with the Simpson's (One of the main reason's I lost interest in the show about 4 years ago) and many other American animated shows.

I like how Japanese animators develop a character within a short time frame (Most animes run about 24-26 episodes in length) that you can relate to and cheer for...Instead of growing bored with.

Maybe my opinion has to do with that I grew up in a household full of comic book readers and how I long for American animation to develop the characters in the same fashion as comic book writers do.

Brian j.

ps-I remember being a Senior in high school when the Simpson's first premiered...And how it was very refreshing (I still occassionally watch older episodes...) compared to anything else on TV at the time, And how my Mom customized my Bart Simpson's "Eat My Shorts" t-shirt to say "Eat **** M.F.'s"

I still LOVE the X Files and I wish there were more. Thank God for TNT ( and it's coming back on SCIFI in January!)
I still really enjoy Cheers, Who's the Boss , The Nanny, Real World and Golden Girls.

I really miss My So Called Life. I need to shell out the money for the DVD set.

I never watch ER anymore, just the reruns.

I can't really get into Cosby Show anymore...I used to love it but now...eh.
