I know. I won't venture outside of Austin if I don't have to!

But it was only repealed by the passage of another Constitutional amendment. Can you really see an amendment being passed to *repeal* a gay marriage ban? I can't.

There will never be a constitutional amendment prohibiting gay marriage. Three quarters of the states have to ratify it- and that will never happen.
I dunno...it's not like a huge turnout is necessary. The Texas marriage ban was passed with a wopping 16% voter turnout. The wingnuts count on 2/3's of voters staying home. Meanwhile, they mobilize their Christo-fascist forces, and what do you have...?

(Yes, I'm being a little dramatic...but not much).

Yes, I can. These kinds of social issues take time, but once they change- they change. I TiVo'd a movie called "That Certain Summer" and watched it the other day and you wouldn't believe the attitudes that were in that flick. And that movie was made in 1972.

Honey-pie... US constitutional amendments require 3/4 of the state legislatures to ratify them- it's not an election.

Well, maybe in 100 years, when both of us are dead.

Oh, well we're definitely screwed in that case.

When he was in Brazil the other day, he was shown a map of the country and he said "Wow. Brazil is big." I kid you not.

Doesn't surprise me, considering that he supposedly asked the president of Brazil "Do you have blacks, too?" a couple years back.

Have you guys heard the "tribal sovereignity" one? I just heard a clip of it for the first time yesterday morning on Air America when I was driving to work. Democracy Now apparently did a show about it afterwards. They have the audio, as well as a transcript from the show:

http://www.democracynow.org/article....4/08/10/149259

The clip is about 30 minutes long, but you've got to listen to the first 3 minutes. They have the audio of Bush, as well as Jesse Jackson's take on it. The Bush part would be funny, if it weren't just downright pathetic. (How did this guy make it through grade school, much less become president?) But the Jesse Jackson part is hysterical!

I can't believe this **** is happening in my time. 20, 30 years from now people are going to look back on this, scratch their heads and wonder WHY gay marriage was ever banned-- kind of like how we, today, can't believe there was ever racial segregation.

I have heard this but will try to listen to your link to hear Jackson's remarks. In a vocabulary test Shrub would have failed. I couldn't write "Sovereignty means you are sovereign." on my test and pass!
