And I am now officially in love with Max. He really is a person, just like Cash was.

I know. Maybe only you and I get it. I was watching him walking around... He was THINKING ABOUT SH*T! Just taking it all in, and processing it. You were right, when you said that some dogs are "just dogs"(and of course there's nothing wrong with that), but some really are "people", that have a true personality. The way he acted, truly reminded me of Cash, because I got to see "who" he is. A little man, hidden in a dog's body.

And I try to have a "no dogs in the pool rule", because my cousin used to bring her golden lab over, and we couldn't keep it OUT of the pool, and my filter kept getting clogged with yellow dog hair, so I had to try to stop that. Although a short haired dog wouldn't worry me.

My old dog Stoney was just like this. A Border Collie, too smart for his own good sometimes, and very much a person with a very distinct personality. He was the best dog ever!

You joined the Ledge, just after my ordeal with my "son's" cancer. Cash was a mutt, but many thought he was part border collie(had the white "collar"). And he was the best dog ever, and I spent an insane amount of money, trying to save him from the cancer. He was so special, that I never want another dog. I'm done with pets. I just get too attached to them, and you know how much I love to travel...

It's been 5 years now. His memorial still stands in my living room. My Ledgie friends got to see it on Sunday, for the first time.

it must have something to do with the intelligence of a dog that is relatable for humans. border collies are the smartest dogs and shelties are up there, closing in at #6. maybe it's the dumb ones that are more "dog-like" which- there's nothing wrong with that. they are usually more loving. max is not very affectionate. he's too cool for that smooshy stuff

See, Cash was affectionate. The hardest thing for me, was learning how to sleep without him, after 7 years. He INSISTED on owning the left side of the bed(if I got on that side, he would stand there and rake the bed with his paw, until I moved for him), and my left arm had to form a question mark, for him to curl up in.

Stoney was too, very much so. Yes, he could be independent at times but not for too long, he always wanted affection. Also, he was very protective over everyone in the family but in the most non-agressive way possible. He'd just wander roundf the house, checking on everyone if we were in separate rooms!

Thanks. When the Ledgies saw his memorial last Sunday, it sort of dredged up memories.

I can't wait until we all get together again! Hopefully a weekend in September!

Most of this is in the Lindsey thread, but 3 of us collided in Nashville, for Lindsey, on Thursday(it was supposed to be 4 of us, but an unexpected surgery on Sunday night, made it impossible for our 4th, who was really missed).
Lindsey was amazing...
My friends were amazing...

It's funny, people always tell us that they can't believe we all met on some band website, and have become friends in real life. I'll always be thankful to the Ledge, for putting these people in my life.

And we're now planning a Christmas party get together....so excited!!!!

And I should explain, it's because we're all f*cking crazy, that we have so much fun together. Things like "trash bag Rhiannon" dances are performed. My chili relleno for dinner, became "Chili Rhiannons". I was sick the next morning(from bad food) and we decided the Chili Rhiannons were to blame!!! Nuts collide!!!(that sounds bad!)
