Good God. I just thought (thought this has NOTHING to do with anything) I'd mention that the White Strips "ad" in your sig has got me dying over here...that's pretty damn funny

I believe the band splits the mechanical royalties between the four of them.

The publishing royalties, performance/singles royalties are paid to the songwriter.

I could be wrong, though..... it's been so long since I've had to deal with this type of crap.

Thanks for that info, tower. I don't know how all this royalty stuff works.

Yes! He actually went to live in a trailer to record his album like that kid, that director, what's his name? And poor boy is hunted by that greedy blonde singing woman... Luckily she's still faster.

I, on the other hand, am totally bummed that Stevie probably won't be at Darien Lake on Tuesday.
She wasn't there? Wow...in a way (don't hate me), I'm sort of glad because I decided not to go to that concert because I didn't want to sit through Tom Petty's music.

That's really a shame though, because the guys who delivered my new dryer yesterday were going there especially to see Stevie.

Oh wow. I'm still alive, just got back from some time off,I'll apologize to the Tom Petty fans, I got pissed off on here, I guest I got out of hand reading the TP&HB board for a couple of days and went nutts overprotecting Stevie.I'm sorry.I like Tom Petty, I like his music all these years, It was nice to see him live.Hahaha so he sounds nasaly like Randy Travis, Tom's good.. And it was worth driving 130 miles to see his show in Mansfield. It was his show, Stevie was the guest, I have to remember that.I feel the same way as some if not all of you, when Don Henley toured with Stevie last year, less Don songs, more Stevie songs, the same with Don, I like Don's solo tunes and his Eagles tunes too.btw I wonder how much royalties Stevie and Tom lost. because of Peer to Peer, Bittorrent sites, Hum.It probably could finance her next tour.hum..

Are both situations selling out? Absolutely. But my original point was that Tom Petty doesn't see his FANS as nothing but dollar signs, and for the most part, I believe the same of LB. Like I said before, when an artist allows his or her song to be used for advertising, it's not the fans that the money is coming from - at least not directly. It comes from the corporation that pays for the ad. It just doesn't seem like the same level to me, but that's just my opinion.

I've been thinking about this for a few days. Tom Petty popped my concert cherry back in 1975 and he truly was was first love in close running with Jackson Browne. I adore the guy. Oh and believe me, he wouldn't even need to get to the "Breakdown" point in the song for me to give it all up to him. I want him bad. More than Lindsey. More than Don. Sorry - it's late and I'm in a mood.

I see this as history in the making. I love the whole idea of these fantastic artists making appearances at concerts. It adds a little flavor, history, unspoken passion, and a trip back in time for those of us who have been around a while.

The Petty fans I met in Dallas made the show. The interactions with them were absolutely some of the best I've ever experienced. Peace Love and Pot for everyone.

Let the bitchers bitch and the blissers enjoy their bliss. Personally, I'm still blissful after my evening with Tom and Stevie.

Patty
