Default Round 3 Blue Turns to Grey

Not that it makes any difference, but I'm voting for this one because I've never heard it.

I know it's either going to be The Singer Not the Song or She Smiled Sweetly that goes, but I can't bring myself to vote for either of them just yet.

Christy, haven't you been a fan long enough to know there will never be a solo album??

Default this round: The singer not the song

Go, go, go!

Um..I'm just curious, why are people so fond of Deep Dense? Here's your chance to win me over for future rounds

Very catchy, especially the guitar solo. It's trademark Lindsey, that. Listen to it again and you'll see what I mean. It takes up a fifth of the song, the entire last minute. I also like the multiple ways he uses the phrase "I did a good job of falling," each time giving it a different connotation. He's so clever! And the insistent beat is compelling rather than plodding, in my humble opinion.

To me, that guitarsolo sounds like a copy of something he did before. I can't pinpoint it but I'm pretty sure he did use it.

part of it he used in the liveversions of second hand news (dance. LIB) or in the LIB- EOTWorld: It's a part of it, when it gets really "screamy".

If so, you get the added intellectual pleasure of trying to ascertain how close he was able to replicate his old solo!

It's a win-win situation!

Nope. I'm spoiled, I want something new, each song. There is some intellectual pleasure when I recognise the song he's duplicating (thank you, Gerald), but that is immediately followed by disappointment.

If we gave up on every song that has hints of a former solo, especially if we're counting live stuff as well, it would leave us with very limited choices. I prefer to evaluate each song on its own merits. The only exceptions to this are when it's so obvious it's impossible to ignore, ie., Doing What I Can and Murrow.

Hm, I think there's a difference between 'hints' and clearly copying old solo's. He doesn't do that in each and every song.

Actually, I must contradict myself, there are songs where I love this solo-copying, especially Hiding In The Shadows - That's How We Do It In LA comes to mind

I think the problem I have with Deep Dense then, that if that solo would be the only catch of the song, that is when it becomes irritating and when my spoiled side comes up and I want to hear more.

I find that song .. just boring. Slow and boring.

edit: I'm listening to it right now and it makes my head bob from shoulder to shoulder. All that's missing is the two ponytails. Not a good sign
