When moderating a message board, it takes some time to learn how to achieve a balance between allowing people room to "breathe" and express themselves, and letting things get out of control.

As this is a private message board, not a public one, the moderators have always been asked by Marty to help keep that balance.
We're only human, so sometimes we misstep... but I think we're typically pretty good about handling things in a balanced way.

Rules are in place to prevent complete anarchy.
In recent times, some behaviour has gotten a bit too far from the FAQs that have been in place for five years now, and we'd like to now restore some "order."

Before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, we're not talking about censorship... we're simply talking about more dilligently enforcing those rules as outlined in the FAQs, which everyone agreed to abide by, when they signed up to use the Ledge.

I guess I totally missed the part about the link being done away with because it was another message board and not because of it's extremely right-wing views...

well is it too late to say I take back that entire...I'm leaving thread now...because now that I know I can be who I am here...I don't see no reason to leave. Which makes me look stupid now

Don't feel bad. As I said before, I understood the way you felt. I would've felt the same way. There was a lot of uncertainty, and not really the fun kind. I'm glad you've changed your mind with the new devlopments/explanations.

I've never been so frickin confused in my life.

I logged on a few minutes ago, am reading all these threads about deleting and not deleting and I have no clue what the hell went on. Anyone want to publish a Coles Notes version? I feel like I left a few hours ago and came back and this whole place has been turned upside down.

Thanks for understanding...I was just confused.

I just REALLY REALLY hope that the reason my thread was deleted was because the link contained was to a message board...and not because it was right wing.

But...I'm trustinig...so it's all good!

Turns out this was all a big misunderstanding! The link is not a message board, it is an article to which people have replied, not unlike a blog.

I'm glad this could be cleared up.

Now let's compare the link ( http://www.sweetness-light.com/archi...a-bushs-fault/ ) to what Sheehan said ( http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/?q=node/2438 ) and see if there are any discrepancies. Hmm, perhaps this is best discussed in a new thread dedicated to it.
