I think you've boiled it correctly.

Yes, but coming off the heels of the Street Angel debacle and how every album of hers sold half of the previous one, she surely didn't expect to sell millions.

She's 57 years old. If she's anything like my mom, I'm sure she's feeling like she's 57 years old too. She ain't no spring chicken. I don't blame her a bit for wanting to slow down. At this point in her career, I don't believe she owes her fans anything. She's already given us everything she's got and more, imo. I'm sorry, but if her fans of all people can't see that...then, really, what's the point?

Of course she's not... but if you were pushing 60 with no retirement plan, would you want to cut into your nest-egg just to keep working?
I sure wouldn't.

And I couldn't disagree with you more (big surprise, huh?) that Stevie was "foolish" to sign a 3-album deal with Warner Bros. She was probably beyond thrilled and considered herself completely lucky that she could get signed after the major downturn her career had taken.
I think anyone would have signed that contract if they had been in her platform boots. It was very wise at the time, it's just that things have changed since then.

I don't think anyone has said Stevie owes us anything.

As I've said throughout this thread, if she wants to take it easy and doesn't want to record anything fine, but she is quoted in that article saying "I think I get better as a writer every day because I work on it constantly." So she must think her new material is good.
What I object to is the thought that she may not want to record again because it won't sell millions. That is a sad thought to me.

But I guess we'll all just have to wait and see.

I liked that ending bit also. Very cool of her, and she's right that it doesn't really matter what your feelings are about the war, you can certainly still have compassion for all that have been wounded.

And I also agree that I'd love to know how people get to do meet and greets. it seems like folks win these stupid contests on the radio or something and not even know who the heck FM are really are, and those will be the people who get back there.

At some show..I can't even remember where or when , but I guess it was during the Dance tour...we ended up in that 'holding room' after the show, where sometimes you can catch a glimpse of band people/asociates. John happend to come out to speak to someone, and as he was leaving, a friend we were with pointed out to him that "The Adelsons" were there (while i was trying to work up the nerve to go over to him... )-- and I think the first thing he said was, "Are you coming back to the meet and greet?" and I was like "Nah, I think this is it, right here." LOL. We couldn't get back there, geez, i wish!!!! Oh wait, now i remember, we were with Brett Tuggle and even he said he didn't think he could get us back. The security was pretty heavy.

Agreed. When I said earlier this year she didn't want to tour despite the fact this summer tour happened, everyone was up in arms just like now. If she isn't blowing smoke in today's interview, then she confirmed she hadn't planned on touring this year. I think she deserves a break. If we give her one she'll more than likely come back and give us something from time to time. If fans are ungrateful for that, at her age she should tell them all, "bite me!"

Stevie has now made mention 2 times in recent interviews, that TISL was her "masterpiece". How do you top your masterpiece? I think she is finished with her solo career. She's given her entire her life to her music and fans. Doesn't she deserve at the age of 57, to go and finally be able to live her life? Just a thought!!

Her retirement plan is her back catalog and the royalties generated from them. Stevie Nicks will never be hurting for money at this point.

Yeah, it wasn't foolish, you're right. What was foolish was waiting 5 years to release anything on her contract.

Am I going crazy here or something? No one has said Stevie owes us another album and that she doesn't deserve to live her life in peace or whatever.
It's her reasoning that it's not worth recording another album because it won't sell in big numbers that's disappointing and frustrating.
I'm sure I can survive without another solo album...
Wow, it's like hitting my head against the wall, over and over.

Take an aspirin and chill. That wall is gonna give you a huge headache.

We get it, but who in their right mind would continue to record and tour if they didn't get paid enough to make it worthwile if they had other things they wanted to do? I think that's her bottom line. She wants to slow down, do Vegas, maybe still record when she feels like it, but not if she has to work to pay the piper or pay off a record label. No advance, no music. I wouldn't do it either if I were in her shoes.
