Sleeping in daylight may give you the rest you need, but human beings are organically predisposed to sleep at night, in darkness, thanks to thousands of years of evolutionary fine-tuning. You break down less protein at night, in darkness, than you do in daylight -- regardless of whether you are sleeping.
I tend to believe that, but I also read that people's "clocks" are set in the womb, due to various factors. So, whattrewesupposedtodo?!

Pretty interesting stuff... but i also think there are just some people out there (like me) who either prefer or are more comfortable sleeping during the day and staying up late... we had a thread about this last week.. no matter how hard i try, i just never really feel "comfortable" getting up very early in the morning and being in bed by 10pm.. would this logic still apply to someone like me do you think?

Yeah, I question the wisdom of "must sleep at night" too. I think as long as you eat right, exercise and don't isolate yourself from others, being nocturnal or somewhat nocturnal doesn't have to be unhealthy.

With her habits, Stevie is shortening her life span.
Totally disagree. She can't just add songs becasue there are curfews when she's doing an outdoor shed. And plus, she can't just sing and sing and sing. She's taking care of her voice. There are limits.

And Stevie's been living by her own internal clock her entire life. As do all of us. If you took a hundred people and let them fall asleep naturally every night and wake up naturally every morning, they wouldn't ALL go to sleep when the sun went down and rise with the sun. If that were the case, people in Canada would go to sleep at 4:30pm in the winter. And in the Arctic, land of the midnight sun, they'd just never go to sleep. I can tell you for free, as soon as I'm on vacation, or extended days off from work, I naturally fall into a "go to sleep at 3am, rise at noon" rhythm. If I had to get up at 6am and go to bed at 10pm every night, THAT would shorten my life span! My normal work day has me getting up at 9:45am (which is an effort) and giong to bed around 1:30 or 2am. (See the thread in chit chat about night owls versus early birds - I think it's over there...)

There is time to do a 2-hour show everywhere she plays.

Straw man argument. I said that she doesn't like to sing more than 80 or 85 minutes every night, & that includes percussion/guitar solos & costume changes. That's a short performance.

But I'm not talking about what people like to do, or the habits they fall into, or even what they have done naturally all their lives.

I'm merely saying that melatonin & other chemicals produced in the hypothalamus are produced in far greater quantities when the eyes have registered nightfall/darkness.

Studies are ongoing, but these chemicals possibly strengthen the immune system & reduce free radicals in the body. They may even serve as immuno-modulators in cancers & tumors.

http://www.melatonin.com/
http://www.priory.com/mel.htm
http://www.berkeleywellness.com/html/ds/dsMelatonin.php
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melatonin

Regardless of whether you prefer to sleep at 3 a.m. or 3 p.m., the pineal gland secretes the vast majority of melatonin throughout the night, while the body is in deep or REM sleep.

I'll also go out on a limb here & suggest the possibility that Stevie wouldn't be downed by illness so frequently -- on tour & off -- if she slept deeply through the dark night. Stevie has gotten sick on virtually every tour she's ever done, solo & with Mac. She's not exactly the acme of bushytailed health, & I'm suggesting that her sleep habits may have something to do with that.

Her show is much longer then that. Vegas was over 100 minutes. I think it was 110 minutes long. And this Gold Dust show is an even longer setlist and includes an opening act. So, really she is out there for well over an hour and a half. Almost two hours (including drum/guitar solos), which isn't bad.

Not true. My friend Kandace, whom Stevie invited backstage in Ireland, was given a set list. The songs on the list have the running time next to them and at the bottom itis added up to make the show in Vegas appoximately 87 minutes. Give or take a few minutes for her to change...
Caesars has a 90 minute time limit and her set was just under that.

Her opening act does not count as part of Stevie's set. Stevie has NEVER, ever had really long solo shows. She normally limits them to about 80 or 90 minutes, no longer.
When you compare her solo gigs to the Mac ones...they seem so much shorter. I remember leaving one of the TISL shows by 10:00.

Would you add Sleeping Angel and Angel to that also?

To understand Christopher's world, you have to kinda see it through his eyes, through his perspective. Every five minutes in Stevie's glorious presence probably feels like a full hour to him, so therefore an 85-minute concert might feel like 17 hours.

Not true. Her earlier TISL shows ran at 100 minutes or longer... I have them as reference, so i am certain of this..

yea..but then didn't she shorten them? My post says "normally"..she normally doesnt play longer than 80 or 90 minutes solo. If she dropped two songs from Tisl...which she did...it would take off ten minutes. My point was Vegas wasn't over 100 minutes really anyway and that her solo shows are much shorter than the Macs.

she shortens every tour she does after the first couple of weeks... you said she "never ever" does long solo shows.. but that isn't correct.. she has.

Obviously you just want to argue. I do not think even a 100 minute solo show is long so my point remains valid.
