really? I like my sexy muscles. Sometimes I've admired the tiny girls. They were usually automatically cuter than me.

Having been too busy to swim this afternoon, I just did 24 minutes on my rowing machine. And for some strange reason, I popped in Street Angel. What a surreal and nearly traumatic experience. I had forgotten so much.
The one two punch of Listen To The Rain and Destiny got my ass out of that seat to skip the track. I simply couldn't take Destiny after the sloppy playing on Listen To The Rain. Was that entire band on Klonopin and Cognac ? What a wreck.
It had also completely slipped my mind how strange and wispy Unconditional Love is...on what planet, and in whose opinion, does "Hey, hey, hey my precious one" qualify as a bridge ? The horror of it all.
On the other hand, I am a satisfied and sweaty mess, and Love Is Like A River has kind of a funky kick to it.

What a workout !

Talking Hate to admit...

but once Deb & myself went to the YMCA to workout and as I listened to "Stand Back" on cd/headphones, I had the sudden urge to pull a Stevie on the treadmill (Ya know, Like in the video with her arms stretched out as she slowly slides to the back of the treadmill)...And I nearly fell on my ass in the process

Moral of the story: Stevie's upbeat songs & workouts dont go good together

Poetry, sheer poetry.

I bought one of those wretched ab rollers last week and have been using that in my workouts. What a piece **** it is, too. Every time I use it, I feel like I'm going to break the springs in it. I much prefer just doing sit-ups, so I'll probably bring it back. And the air bag in my Stairmaster popped, so I need a new one of those. What a pain in the ass it is to maintain myself.

I've been going to the gym that my work has free memberships to and I've been a real slutty bitch for racquetball (or however the hell you spell it) recently. I LOVE that ****. I even bought *gasp* sneakers for it.

Good thing to start out slowly too - in no time you'll find that 15 minutes flies by and it's like nothing and you'll be able to increase a little....

Way to go - sounds like you're on the right track

Thanks very much. This is my first real attempt, so, I'm almost skeptical of the results! I didn't know how many calories you burned with just one pound, let alone 10.

OK, off to the gazelle!

Every Monday, Wednesday & Friday -- rest on Tuesday, Thursday & the weekend (or do your aerobics) -- & within four months, you will be a metabolic machine that burns whatever calories you throw into it.

Build your musculature, & you can say goodbye to all those stupid liquid diets & low-carb diets & all that other horsewash. (In general, just eat foods closer to their raw or natural state -- cut back on all the cans of **** & bags of crap & cannisters of crud you eat)

It's stupid to count your calories going in ... unless you're also aware of the calories going out. And with weight training, believe me, thousands of calories each week will be going out.
David, you inspired me to go up on all my weights. I still did more reps than you recommended but I did work to fatigue on many. I don't like doing that for some reason because when I fail to lift the weight I feel like a failure! I think as long as I can manage to kick my ass and get the three days in I'm good. And can I tell you how strong I felt last night lifting heavier weights? Thanks for the inspiration. I <3 this thread!

Free gym? You're such a princess. I used to have a gym right in my office and I miss it. My gym is crowded and sometimes it smells of bad breath, eww. Diss, I don't think you'd even go there. It just happens to be the most convenient. But I'm going to look into other gyms. I miss my ladies' gym that had fresh flowers in the locker rooms and everything in there was neat as a pin, as it should be.

YAY! What a good thread!

Well, I joined the gym at work about 3&1/2 weeks ago ($170 for the entire year vs. $350 a year I had previously been paying for Curves). And I? LOVE the eliptical machine! What a workout! I bring a book with me (keeps me occupied and covers the timer ) and go for 30 minutes after work at least twice a week (though I try for 3.) I do weights 2-3 days a week while on my lunch hour.

David - if I do the heavier weights/less reps vs. lighter weights/more reps, will I bulk up? I don't want to look like a bodybuilder, I just want to tone.

I also started counting points again (ala Weight Watchers.) I've never actually been a member, but I copied my friend's stuff about 3 years ago & lost 15 pounds at that time. Kept if off about a year, then started slacking off & gained about 9 of them back over the course of a year or 2.

So I lost 3&1/2 pounds from the workouts alone, then started WW again, so I hope to be down at least another 3 by next week. Ideally, I'd like to lose a total of 18 pounds, but I'd be totally satisfied with 13.

Good luck to everyone! And remember - it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change.

I'm not David - BUT I've read that it takes a LOT of effort and supplements and testosterone for a woman to bulk up....

We're just not built like that....so unless you begin a career as a body builder you probably won't end up looking like one

I was afraid of bulking up too - but it's not happened....so

I ask because my quadriceps tend to get pretty damn bulky if I work on them, even a little bit.
