I am far more concerned with the origin and advocacy of legislation, rather than those politicians that are, for all intents and purposes, forced to vote for distasteful legislation due to political realities.

So, with that in mind, the republicans are far, far more responsible for the evils of what we face today. Yes, I would prefer that we have democrats with balls to spare that would shred the **** out of those creeps. However, that ain't gonna happen as long as there are 50,000,000+ morons who will vote based on fear.

My point? I prefer to NOT delude the fight against republican evil by dulling it down with democrat culpability. And, no, I don't think that this point leads me to hypocrisy.
VERY nicely put!

True and the R as jerks - I never said any differently did I? If so, I misspoke and herein correct myself. But, my point is that the D's jump on board and then gloat over it - like Ted K. did with the education bill and Clinton did with the DOMA and the Don't Ask Don't Tell joke.

I agree - but I am just not willing to let the D's slide anymore than the R's. I mean look at Kerry. There was not a whoile lot of difference there between him and W I get that it has to be this way. But, I also get that it is repugnant. Finally, I do not think it gives credibility to the actions of the R for initiating the tripe. They are wrong for doing so.

That is just me though. I think it is possible to criticize the R's and the D's in the same breath without diluting the argument that the R's are worse than the D's. I agree though that few can or even want to make that distinction. I credit the D party with this because they have been pulling the wool over people's eyes for a long time and it is wasy to do so when your only real comparison if the far worse R party.

Doesn't it drive you nuts when that happens and you have to go back and edit it or face looking like a dolt? I know I hate it when I do it.

no one is saying those few dems SHOULD slide! MY point is, we as a nation are dealing with these issues in the first place because the Repug's are in control and they are foisting this garbage onto us...

I agree and never said differently. My point is and was that running to a complacent and enabling D party is not the solution. Yet, "we" do it because there is nowhere else feasible to run. That sucks, but it is reality.

I get unhappy with the Dems too ya know! never more so than when they failed as a GROUP to stand with Barbara Boxer re: Ohio voting irregularities...

But, no amount of Dem foot dragging can compare with the OUTRIGHT ASSAULT on every American who isnt wealthy that is being waged by the Republican party!!! There is NO comparison as far as I am concerned!

Perhaps true, but I do not think rallying against the D's dilutes the fight against the R's

also, I hate it when you lump all wealthy people into some kind of boat of uncaring people. I know you know that many wealthy people are kind, caring and VERY generous. I mean thanks to the Vanderbilts and their influence, people in Tenn. get free health care at their clinic - or at least I think they used to? Also, how do we define wealthy? That kind of thinking is just defeating of the whole notion that all are equal, no matter how true it may be for some.

Bull****. They're guilty by complicity and by keeping silent. Show me a Dem who can get anything done and I'll show you a right-wing fundie who approves of gay marriage. When it comes to Dems, it's all about status and whether they have power or not. They don't care about much else, everything is a poll or focus group to them and how they can appeal to voters. They're losers with no real principles.

JMO, of course.
