You used to love it?! You'd better damn well love it again or I'm gonna come at you like a spider monkey!

See my pm re Facebook. I have no internet at home right now (problems with the phone line) and so can only access internet at work, where fgacebook is blocked. It should be fixed tomorrow/Friday and will add you asap. Perhaps tonight if I'm round at a mate's who has internet at home.

Yeah, it will truly affect romantic & sexual relationships for the rest of their life. So damaging. EDIT: Not that a victim can't overcome it with therapy. It doesn't have to be permanent damage.

Change "will" to "can," please?

I would agree that there's DEFINITELY going to be some major consequence from childhood sexual abuse and that's unavoidable... but it doesn't have to live on in the person forever.

Nope. I'm not saying every relationship will be ruined, butI stand by my statment that every one will be affected in some way, whether the person is really aware or not. Also, not saying they can't heal & overcome the damage, but it typically take a lot of therapy.

I can accept this, but it isn't what your first comment says.

Yeah, a trigger warning somewhere in the thread's title or when rape/abuse first got brought up wouldn't be misplaced.

Yeah... I haven't exactly been reassured by some of these replies.

All I can suggest is you take the thread by the reigns and steer it into the direction you want it to go in . This is the chit chat/open discussion section of the board... so the sky is the limit!

I updated the title of the thread (again!). You know how much I respect your opinion... if you have any better suggestions, please PM me (this goes for anyone who reads this thread). Sexuality, rape, bodily functions, etc are very delicate, touchy issues. However, I love the fact we can all discuss these things frankly and calmly here.

Anyway, carry on everyone! If anybody has any issues/concerns/suggestions regarding this thread, I will reiterate again to PM me and we'll discuss it.

Thanks, Louie. I would never suggest that we close the thread. I agree that discussion is crucial. But trigger warnings help survivors understand that what they're going to read might bring up flashbacks, etc, and letting someone know that in advance is never a bad thing. Again, thank you.

And since this the point of this thread was to be about enjoyable things, let's get back to that.

I think my ladyfriend might come over tonight, which will be a nice start to my spring break

Just as an FYI, there is a limit to the number of characters that can be contained in a thread title. I tried to put:

TMI Thread. Warning: contains discussion of ADULT issues including bodily functions, sexuality, and rape

... but there just wasn't room. So I'm leaving the title as it is. If anyone can figure out a better title/disclaimer that uses the same amount of characters as the title currently uses (I maxed out the available characters already), PM me.

From where I sit, some of the earlier content in this thread could be equally as triggering for abuse survivors than anything in the last few pages. I think the thread title is clear enough- perhaps "enter with awareness" would work well, too.
