Went running again tonight. My legs feel so much stronger. I was able to go longer distances (running) and I felt a lot better. Still had to walk a few times, but it was a good night!

Walking at a quick pace is probably better than running. Running long distances frequently can really damage your joints...

running can be hard on your joints, but it's a better cardio workout than walking. it gets your heartrate going faster, and you're burning more calories. as long as you start out slow and do a run/walk program, you can better avoid injury.

good job, jimmy! be careful!

I don't see how Jimmy needs to burn any calories. He is a small boy

I've been doing better with my eating this week. Only had McDonald's twice, and I exercised yesterday and today. If my scales are to be believed, I have lost 2 lbs. since Tuesday. I was down to 173 from 175. Maybe it's meaningless, but I need that kind of thing to keep me motivated, otherwise, I think "Oh, what's the use?" and order a quarter-pounder value meal. Anyway, I feel pretty good. It's weird - I've never really *wanted* to exercise before, but I'm actually finding myself looking forward to it. I would sooo love to be down to 145 by my birthday (July 4). I just want to be able to fit into more than 10% of the clothes that I own!

But surely walking at a fast-pace frequently, and walking longer than you would run, would be just as beneficial to your heart?

But don't you think that the risks of running frequently and doing damage to your knees, back and hips outweighs the whole 'healthy heart' thing

Sorry dear, Im in an argumentative mood

boy, don't make me bitchslap you into tomorrow!

which i could easily do, since it's still thursday here.

i guess it's just a personal choice there are other low- or no- impact options that are better for your heart, too - cycling, running on an elliptical machine, swimming, etc.

Thats what I was going to suggest - I used to be a professional swimmer, and it was great at pushing up my heartrate, burning calories and all that stuff. Plus it gives you a mean bod
