So while Stevie had the only number one hit with Fleetwood Mac, she's also had the fewest top-ten hits. Her value to the band as a songwriter has been overstated. Christine is the real voice of the band. The ticket sales between 2013 and 2014/15 kind of prove that.

Funny you don't mention totally number of hits, just top 10. This is bogus.

You can play the numbers game all you very well please, but you have to look at the bigger picture. In terms of maintaining longevity for this band, Stevie comes out on top, no doubt.

She has the most successful and continual solo career out of anyone from the band, and keeps them in the spotlight. Since Say You Will, it has been Stevie that has kept this band alive, albeit from a solo position. A greatest hits package, multiple solo tours, two studio albums, live concert releases, photograph exhibitions, album rereleases, television appearances, the list goes on.

Her American Horror Story appearance and featured songs helped bring the band to a younger audience, not to mention her talk show performances.

Meanwhile, Stevie has continually been criticized for doing nothing for this band. Yes, the publicity helps her own image and legacy - but one would be remiss not to automatically include FM as part of it.

Had Lindsey and Mick run the show the past 10+ years, there would be a chain of mildly successful Fleetwood Mac-themed restaurants... but that's just my opinion.

EDIT:: in regards to chart positions, the two songs Fleetwood Mac are most remembered for are Rhiannon (not top 10) and Landslide, which wasn't even released as a single.

I'd have to respectfully challenge that statement. It might be different somewhere in your gypsy soul, but here in the UK they are mostly remembered for Little Lies, Everywhere, Don't Stop, Go Your Own Way, Dreams and The Chain (and Albatross, Oh Well and The Green Manalishi). If you asked the average person on the street, probably 95% wouldn't be able to place Fleetwood Mac as the band behind Landslide and Rhiannon (in fact, just as many people have probably never heard of Landslide and Rhiannon).

I appreciate it is probably very different in the US and other places.

All those you listed I agree. However, which two songs have I heard the most on UK radio these past couple of weeks? Rhiannon and Landslide. Which song is currently featured on an advert? Landslide. So there you go.

90% of the time it's BBC Radio 2 otherwise Nation radio. The advert is James Wellbeloved and it's a cover of Landslide.

Okay, let's put it a different way: Christine had as many songs on the Greatest Hits album as Stevie and Lindsey combined. She was the voice. I wonder how the story would be different now if Christine had gotten help in 1991 and dealt with the issues that kept her off the road for the better part of a quarter century.

Did the thought ever occur to Stevie's fans that a large part of solo success is largely because she gives Fleetwood Mac fans a sense of connection to the band?

I saw her solo on the TISL tour (my only SN solo show) for probably the same reason I've seen chiffon-heads at a Mick Fleetwood's Zoo show (when Bekka Bramlett was one of the singers) and at a Peter Green show. I wanted that sense of connection.

And, she gives people that connection.
