Most go to Fleetwood Mac concerts because that is a band with (now) four VERY talented members. I wouldn't want to see three-member Fleetwood Mac without Stevie ... without John ... without Lindsey ... or without Mick.
It's hard enough taking the Christine hit.

I understand there are a tremendous amount of Stevie Nicks fans out there. She's always been a BIG draw. However, there are a tremendous amount of band fans out there too.

That's Ken Tucker, one of the most astute American critics among all the critics who loved Fleetwood Mac. I'd like to ask Wolf just what Tucker's "game" or "agenda" was all those yrs.

She certainly had equal time in concert and her song brought the show to an end, with her there, unadorned, by herself with the piano. Pretty visible and easy target to my way of thinking.

Visible but she didn't put herself out there- no drama, no showmanship. She pretty much just did her thing, albeit, wonderfully. About the worst thing I have read about her was that her solo concerts were kind of a bore.

I really enjoy well-constructed arguments and critiques hardly bother me much, but I sometimes think we all take them for granted. Like, they aren't getting any younger and, who knows, Lindsey or Stevie may never perform again for whatever reason (this is hypothetical, I'm not being pessimistic/morbid) and all we may have to remember the last moments is this tour and these endless threads of us bitching about how their voices suck and they have no stage presence.

Maybe we should take a minute to smell the roses and be grateful they are out there at all.

That in itself would be something for the critics to write about: if she was boring compared to the other people in the band -- at an FM show (as opposed to one of her solo outings). The contrast, if it was that obvious, would be something that would make her an easy target. Since she had 1/3 of the show, it would be hard to overlook her bringing the show down with her boringness.

Yet, I could count on my hand the number of reviews that made that observation about CM. I could use one hand, even including reviews from within the band itself!

imo, Stevie tends to hold back and remain less animated on a Mac tour anyway. I have seen her @ several solo shows and she is on FIIIIIIIIIRE
everyone is hanging on her every word and it's electric and she's funny as!

she does not/did not act like that on any SYW show. she was good, but different. Lindsey, I have never seen on a solo show but from everything i've read people are always just in awe of his performance.

I think Lindsey just gets less credit and attention paid to him coz he's not Stevie and everyone knows Stevie. If Stevie put 1/2 the effort and animation into this tour as she did in her 05-06 shows and Lindsey kept up his fabulousness, the show would be more wicked powerful.
and this would truly be showcased when they came out and performed SOTM and everyone will forget the Mirage tour ever happened and the only performance that will ever be talked about from this day forth will be the version(s) they did on this tour...

More than ever, the Unleashed show underscored the fact that
Fleetwood Mac has become the Buckingham Nicks show. It gave
the night two distinct flavors, Nicks' ethereal cool and Buckingham's
manic edge.

It gives a dominant edge to Buckingham, with his fluid, finger-
picked guitar styles and aggressively inventive melodies such as
"Go Insane" and a solo rendering of "Big Love". He delivered a spirited
take on "Oh Well", then tore the roof off with a searing solo at the end
of the slow-burning "I'm So Afraid" that made it as much a highlight as
any of the set's bigger hits. Nicks did rise to the occasion with her 1983
solo hit "Standback", and had the night's last word with "Silver Springs".
But even she seemed respectful of, and perhaps resigned to the sheer
force of her former boyfriend's musical personality.

Buckingham noted during the concert that "everytime we get together
again it's always different, always a sense of forward motion, and we
always have more fun." The Unleashed show is more like a holding
pattern, but few in the audience would deny there's fun in hearing all
those hits.

Personally, I feel Stevie's sometime "lack of committment" is most obvious on Rhiannon. I almost wish she'd stop singing it. And if any song needs a new arrangement, it's this one. I thought for sure they would change it somehow, someway but no. It's been sung the same, with both FM and solo, since The Dance. The only change is the addition of the piano intro. I know she's not gonna sing it like she did in the 70's anymore, but they could do a similiar arrangement, with the long solo in the middle, and it would at least feel like it's new and different. It's one of Stevie's biggest hits, yet it always feels like it's being rushed. And I'm sick of those sleeves, too!!
