Those two ladies cannot be replaced

Bekka may sound nothing like Stevie, but I don't think it's fair to call her a "poor choice." She has an amazing singing voice and was already a member of Mick's Zoo (and BTW, I don't think Time sounds anything like The Zoo). I believe she was also romantically involved with Billy at the time (and they've been friends since they were very young), so I think all of that made her an obvious and great choice for the band.

you're not serious are you? She used to be REALLY petite, and I mean, all of her. Hmmm, maybe I need to pay closer attention to Stevie's behind to make a fair "ass"essment.

I've never received a mean PM. But then again, I really don't get ANY PMs so, whatever.

As far as making fun of Stevie's weight...I think it's in really poor taste. It aways makes me think of that interview where she said she would never go back onstage at that weight- that always makes me so sad! Because she's so much more than how much she weighs, to me. And if someone admittedly doesn't even really care for Stevie, I don't see the point of coming into a Stevie *FAN* forum and making derogatory statements about her.

That being said, I really couldn't give a **** about who wants to make fun of her. I don't get it, but I certainly wouldn't lose sleep over it.

I don't think it's fair to call her a Stevie "replacement"! Beyond the fact that she's another pretty blonde, what's the similarity?

In fact, almost none of the non-original members of Fleetwood Mac are "replacements," with the possible exceptions of Billy and Rick, who were arguably brought on board for the Tango tour simply to fill the Lindsey gap (though obviously they got to expand their roles later on). Other than that, though many band members have left and others have joined, it's never been a matter of simple replacement. It was always more of a mutation, a changing of the band into a largely different entity. Bekka didn't "replace" Stevie anymore than Bob Welch and Christine "replaced" Peter and Jeremy.

The Seven Dunders board I call it. They've been getting some interesting threads over there lately, outpacing us here.

Youre absolutely right: she was superbly proportioned & one of the most popular sex symbols in the country.

She had a great run.

She had a great everything. That was just one aspect of her many appeals. Was she ever a joy to watch.
Blame it on my wild heart.

And that disturbs me to no end. Dammit, THIS is the FM home, PERIOD.

I also find all that blue, hard on my eyes. The color layout here is very eye pleasing.

And THAT'S the problem when you're a sex symbol. Eventually, age catches up with you. Then you're endlessly compared to that former sex symbol. And even Stevie finally realized that. Going on stage at 300 lbs was no longer an option.

Aesthetically, the two have practically nothing in common: not looks, not performing style, not vocal style, not songwriting style, not personality, not musical heritage.

I'd even argue with that, hoping not to split hairs. Billy was hired as far as I know just because he was everybody's friend & fellow musician & it just seemed like a good idea to ask your friend to join, especially given that your friend could sing & write songs & play guitar. I know MacDouginator actually believes that Billy was hired specifically to look like Lindsey, but that's beyond belief to me.

as for Rick: not to replace Lindsey per se but to fill the lead guitarist role, which was empty at the time. Every band needs a lead guitarist, & Billy wasn't one. So either Rick needed to be hired or another lead guitarist needed to be hired--somebody had to be brought in to play lead guitar. I think if the desire to replace Lindsey specifically were really operating at the time, they'd have found someone who had that sort of idiosyncratic, really off-the-wall edge (& preoccupation with sonic envelope-pushing) as well as someone who had a strong bent for production & engineering, neither of which describes Rick ... or Billy.

300 pounds is not a healthy option for anyone, no matter who you are. Especially on a 5'1 frame.
