The kid is daft, no doubt. He's only, what, 18? But I still feel bad for the people, not the actors, who think they can actually sing and run out crying when they're told they sound like cats being anally electrocuted.

I know, I was shocked he made it but good for him, he gets to fly on a plane like he's always dreamed of . It will be fun to see his reaction to Hollywood.

Did you see how he was jumping up and down? So cute. I just wanted to give him a hug and squeal right along with him.

"I've only sung for the turkey."

Yep, and his whole family were jumping along with him, even his dad. So sweet.

I love how they played the theme song from The Crying Game when he walked out. Classic !

Bottom line is he was blaming the judges for being narrow minded and "prejudice" for not picking him when it had nothing to do with his gender confusion - he just couldn't sing.

I can't believe the chick who did the Bjork song made it. She seemed more like a cartoon character to me than a future idol.

Default Already Controversy

This story is on those twins who were dressed all in white.

'Idol' Twins Charged With Forgery, Theft

AP
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - They sang like angels for their audition on Tuesday's 'American Idol' premiere, but a pair of Memphis twins may sound more like jailbirds by the time the show goes live from Hollywood.

Terrell Brittenum, 28, has been in jail since Jan. 10 on an outstanding warrant for charges related to the illegal purchase of a car in Rockdale County, Ga., east of Atlanta.

He and his brother, Derrell, are accused of using another man's identity to buy a 2005 Dodge Magnum in June.

Derrell was expected to turn himself in on the same charges of forgery, theft by deception and financial identity fraud, The Commercial Appeal newspaper reported.

The brothers auditioned together in September for the hit TV show 'American Idol' and impressed the show's prickly judges to continue to the next round. Segments of the show have already been recorded and will air during the next few weeks.

Fox Broadcasting Co. refused to discuss the Brittenums or their status on the show.

The return of the show Tuesday drew its best-ever season premiere ratings with 35.5 million viewers. It was a 6 percent increase over last year's debut, according to preliminary Nielsen Media Research figures.

At first, I couldn't figure out why the original judges let the horrible people through to Paula, Simon, and Randy. But then it occured to me that maybe they're (the show) trying to show what the whole auditioning process is really like? That no talent people really do come to auditions, thinking they can sing.

Btw- I loved that little cowboy, too. I was SO happy he made it through. I think he really can sing- he was just so nervous, bless his heart. At first, my husband and I were talking sh*t about the whole "cowboy" thing, until we realized that these people really are actual cowboys! So, they can wear the boots and the hats.

He, like spaz attack, should not have gone through. What is UP with the judges this season? My theory is that they're trying to get some underdogs in the competition for the country to root for. Sad thing is, they're not going to make it past the second round.

Again, it's the underdog theory. Whatevs. The carbon copy people will win like they always do. Letting these "different" less talented people through is only a ploy. It'll all even out as the competition continues.

The cowboy was just so lovable. I hope he enjoys the plane ride and Hollywood.

That's some of it, but a lot is ratings. Notice they let some of the most God-awful people through - to get a laugh, make it fun, keep things interesting, give Simon someone to snark at. Then there are the people who are well aware that they can't sing, but they want to get on TV.

And the plane ride right back. He WAS adorable, but unless he got some serious voice lessons pdq, I'm afraid he won't last long. I hope he did. You kind of HAVE to root for him.

I'm rooting for the homeless girl too. She was really good, and I'm a sucker for sappy side stories.
