Oh, well, she did do that. I just thought she suddenly realized, right then, in thinking about it and remembering, that he probably did not apologize, and so she said it.
You know, that thing where someone asks you something, and you hadn't been thinking of it, and you're like "I don't remember" because you have to answer them right then - but then you start thinking about it a little bit, and realize that you do kind of remember.
But - that's just what I thought happened, and I can see why someone would think it's uncool. It certainly wasn't flattering to LB, no question about that.

If not, I will say - that has happened to me. Quite a few times.

There was a very brief mention of it in the Mojo article from December 2003.

And I think Lindsey felt he needed her there, too.

But, that is the story I've most often heard as well. But it seems like I've mainly heard it from Lindsey. I wish I could recall the times each of the other band members said it.
We know how Stevie likes to change her stories because here she says that she knew that they didn't want her.

BBC Rock Hour with Sylvia Simmons - 1981
"Well at first I didn't really think they needed another girl singer, they already had one. So I went through some moments of simply thinking I was being hired because they couldn't get Lindsey without me. I know for a fact that that's how they felt..because why wouldn't they? They did not need another girl singer especially one that didn't play piano or guitar or anything. Kind of like 'oh right, you'll stand out there and be the star and we'll just play.' I was willing to realize that I was lucky enough to be asked to join the band at all and that if I really wanted to be in Fleetwood Mac I was really going to have to figure out a gimmick. And they knew it, they got it, they understood that I felt this way and so they were real careful. And they never made me feel unwanted or like excess baggage."

totally! i dont think this makes Stevie look bad
she didn't know whether he did or he didn't
she SAID in the interview that she thinks he didn't apologize
probably an educated guess on her part
taking into consideration all of his past behavior that she is familiar with
she probably thought more than likely, he didn't apologize
that's not to say that he did and i'm sure if he told her one day he did she would change her answer...maybe

That's a good point, but nowhere does she say that anyone actually said that to her. She says she thought that, and when she says that "she knows for a fact that's how they felt" - she then follows not with any actual evidence that they felt that way, or any facts, but with "because why wouldn't they?" - again surmising she knew how they felt without actual evidence.
Just saying.

Who said it? One of the band members, or the article writer? *it's okay if you don't remember*

I've never heard the guitar part either. I'm in a quote mood tonight so I thought I would pull this one out as well. I wonder if Mick is talking about the same incident?

In the Studio with Fleetwood Mac ~ Rumours - 1992
MICK: (about things between the couples happening on stage) "There was one or two sticky incidents that happened on the stage. I remember one time Lindsey had one or two scotches and Stevie was dancing away during one of his guitar solos and he must have thought, "I'm going to put an end to this," and went over and gave her a good sharp kick on the shins. That was a classic one. So there were odd things like that that I think went completely unnoticed if not a little bit sticky on stage, whoops what's happening here, let's just keep playing, nothing happened, no one saw that."

Yeah, I dunno. How many times could he have kicked her in the shins?
It's hard for me to trust Mick's impressions and memory about things like this. For all the obvious reasons, plus the fact that it didn't happen to him. But he does say "things like that" implying plural, multiple times.
I remember Christine telling the story as well, and about the slapping and all that, but I can't remember what exactly Chris said that Lindsey did.

As opposed to Stevie? Her stories change with the weather.

Chris never said that he threw his guitar at her.

I'm still more likely to believe what she says about an incident like that. It seems unlikely to me that a person would manufacture an entire guitar thrown at them incident if it never happened. But, I guess it's possibly she could be confusing it with another time he threw his guitar at her.
Ah, I didn't think Chris had said that. Don't know exactly what she did say, though.

The only thing she said was that Lindsey "made a mockery" of Stevie.

It doesn't seem unlikely to me when it's Stevie Nicks. She still can't get her stories straight on when exactly she quit snorting coke.

Just as it's possible that her memory is failing her. I take everything she says with quite a few grains of salt.

Chris said that he mocked her, and that she ran after him backstage and slapped him because behavior like that was no way to treat a paying audience.

I love google.

Reconciliation came - slowly - out of the band reunions and, probably, a mellowing in Buckingham. Ken Caillat quotes a recent conversation: “He said, ’I’m a selfish guy.’ Which is true, he’s all about me, me, me. He admitted he had even been angry about having a child to start with. Then one day the kid grabbed his little finger and he just got it. He understood there was another world out there.”

And when Nicks rejoined Fleetwood Mac for the intriguingly Tusk-like Say You Will - he found her ready to forgive - and not forget, but laugh about “the time you threw that Les Paul at me” and such.
