We've already had the "hotpot" discussion here.

My casserole was okay, but not as good as the one's Mom used to make....
Tomorrow, I'm smoking some salmon...now that's something I'm good at!

They're never as good as Mom/Mum used to make! I mean, you can use exact same ingredients/method and nothing ever turns out the same! Still good but nothing like Mom's!

I know. Mom's been gone for 9 years now(it feels like just 3-4, though). Trying to think of her other things that I can't touch...
Fried chicken - I just can't make mine come out nearly as good as hers.
Liver and onions - yeah, I know, the world hates it. We both love(d) it. Mine always SUCKS.
Meatloaf - I make a good meatloaf, but it's still not as good as hers.

I put my salmon for tonight, in a rosemary, thyme, and garlic rub last night, put a little liquid smoke on it, and wrapped it in foil, and let it sit in the fridge all night. Gonna fire up the grill here, in a couple of hours....

Thanks. Yeah, we all have our strengths and weaknesses. Smoking a salmon steak, is just about one of my favorite things that I cook! Since I'm firing up the grill with mesquite charcoal, and Jack Daniels wood chips, I'm going to smoke a big chicken breast, for tomorrow, while I'm at it. Killing two birds with one stone...actually, a fish and a bird, with one stone!

I'm down 4 lbs(149 today), of the holiday weight I'd gained, so I'm feeling better about eating tasty stuff!

*groan*

I feel really bad because I had a bit of a naughty day I was in a bad mood so I got some Chips (Fries) with Chilli Sauce for Lunch. Then I had a Sandwich for dinner when I got home around 6.

Shouldn't have done that.

It's one of those foods, that every time I mention it, someone is always making their "eww gross" face.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong with it....Mom's was always tender, with breading sticking all over it. My breading always falls off, and it is always kind of tough. I need a liver cooking lesson!!!!

However, my salmon today kicked ass! Yummy!

Is there a link to this online? This must be answering so many of your questions! I need to see if they're doing it "properly" though - haha!

Kristen (DefDumb&Blonde) showed me a "British" restaurant menu that's near her once.

If you gave that sh** to the customers where I work, they'd rightfully give it right back to you.

For tea tonight, I had quorn shepherds pie made by my step dad It was yummy!

Yeah - I've thought the same about some British places I've seen in the US too!
