Now that we know there are 17 of 25 demos recorded, which ones do you guys think will be on the new release? Stevie said they were found on YouTube (which I guess saved Lori a trip to the old Arizona Vault

Much as I love Stevie's songs, I do also think that her best songwriting days are behind her, so I would be very happy if any of those old demos made it onto the new disc. My picks would be...
Space Needle (such a dark song but I dearly love it) Watchdevil China Doll Blue Water Here's to hoping... Kevin |

I don't know how I feel about this...Some of her old demos are priceless (China Doll, Forest Of The Black Roses and others) if they can turn out the way "Crystal" did when Stevie re-recorded it then this new record could be great...If Stevie is going to start recording old songs I think she should re-record ALL of her FM songs it could be a huge seller...And while she's at it a couple "standards" albums wouldn't hurt...If Stevie recorded a "Standards" album and toured with Rod Stewart again it could be very profitable for her...If Stevie want's to do any of this she's got to put Fleetwood Mac to bed ...Do a FM farewell tour and then go on a recording spree...The clock is ticking Stevie do you want to do a bunch of cash grab tours or do something worthwhile...The choice is yours...

No wonder Dave described the album as Classic Stevie Nicks.

Not to mention it's just a bit bizarre for me to swallow 65 year old Stevie recording an entire album of songs from her youth. Don't get me wrong, these songs are all from her golden songwriting era. But Stevie's in such a different place in her life these days. Plus, I hate to even go here... but there's a reason some of these songs never turned up on an album. ![]() Quote:

On the one hand, this is pretty cool because her demos are beloved among fans and it's kind of awesome that she realized that and is recording them. If they turn out well, this could be great, and something really nice to have.
However... on the other hand... one of the reasons I was so shocked/excited about the new album was because I couldn't believe that she had been writing that much. And now it turns out she hasn't and it's all old songs. Additionally, all of those songs were written when she had a very different vocal timbre and range so it will be interesting to see if she just goes for it vocally or if she alters them to fit her current voice. And there's a bit of a risk factor either way in that regard. So I don't know, I have mixed feelings.

I've never agreed with the idea that the demos are better than what was released. I find many of them interesting, but most of them aren't things that I'd listen to for enjoyment. And yes, there is a reason many of them never made it on an album.
A lot of them, though, definitely have potential and I'm dying to hear what they're like as fully produced songs. The Rhiannon-related piano demos would be great to hear fleshed out. I can't imagine that "Julia" isn't among the ones recorded. I am really excited by this and I'm pleasantly surprised that she decided to do this. Dave must've talked her into it. |

When Dave tweeted the pic of him and Waddy at the mixing board, Stevie's "Rhiannon" painting was propped up on the console. So I'm willing to bet you're right about some of those "Rhiannon" demos making their way onto this album!

I've been pretty thrilled with the way all of Stevie's "vaulted" songs have come out (I even really loved the arrangement Lindsey gave "Smile At You"). So luckily I don't have any concerns about this. Though I can certainly understand why some of us might. These demos and outtakes have been as treasured and well-loved by Stevie's fans as her most famous songs are.
I'm hoping for: Julia The Dealer If You Were My Love She Still Loves Him Something Exquisite Belle Fleur Forest of the Black Roses All The Beautiful Worlds Mirror Mirror Space Needle |

. It was released, officially, as a B side. I doubt she would release it again unless it was on a collection of B sides and outtakes.
Side note: someone found out that the version released was the WRONG finished version. The version released was a finished version from Rock a Little, and the one that was SUPPOSED to be released from during Street Angel was not seen or really known about until a couple years ago. Both were great, and very remarkably similar for being recorded so far apart in terms of "pre-Betty" and "near post Klonapin" |
