I feel the same way which is why I was hoping for Ghosts Are Gone to be the single. My personal tastes would have loved Moonlight or New Orleans but the queen of rock thing does lend itself to Ghosts more. But this whole thing choice of singles and videos has been a problem with Stevie's team imho since OSOTM.

Default radio airplay..

I think "For What It's Worth" could easily make the playlists of some of XM/Sirius channels.

I'm listening to the Coffee House station and they are currently playing Stevie's version of "Free Fallin'" and thought to myself, For What Its Worth would sound nice on this station. I think I'll send XM an email requesting the song.

It was a nice surprise hearing "Free Fallin'" by Stevie on the radio.

one last note: All The Hits - z100 from NYC is now available on satellite radio so I thought I would give it a listen. First, no way will this "hits" station play any Stevie Nicks, no matter the song. Second, I didn't care for most of the songs played (only listened to it for about an hour - too many commercials, and not enough good songs - I guess I'm just not hip).

Yeah, uhm, we're all entitled to our own opinion but FYI--several critics cited FWIW as a stand-out on IYD--at least in the reviews I read--and I read quite a few.

The nature of radio has changed drastically in the last 20 years. Once upon a time (say the 70's when FM ruled the world)--you could hear almost anything on the average radio station--it wasn't uncommon to hear Rufus (with Chaka Khan), then a song by FM, then a disco number, and then a country crossover hit back-to-back. That began to change when "corporate" radio chains were launched--they decided to pursue "niche" market radio stations with very narrow playlists--which pretty much sucked the soul out of commercial radio, at least for me. It also effectively limited what types of artists get played. While Stevie would seem like a natural fit for classic radio stations, what they typically play are 30 year old songs, not new songs by established artists. You can forget about Top 40 because that's all autotuned crap these days. Country radio isn't going to take a chance on something new either unless it's from their approved list of artists they'll play. That's what Corporate Radio has done to the music biz in general. You can go to any city, turn on the radio station and what you hear is what you could hear in any station in this country--heavily edited playlists and sound-alike stations (Thanks Clear Channel--not!). Very few radio stations these days are independently owned and even those that are often subscribe to pre-edited playlists.

I'm a big fan of XM/Sirius Radio but that's all niche programming too--although some of the channels do play a wide spectrum of artists and new/old material--I've ever heard Frozen Love by Buckingham Nicks on XM in the past! So I'm sure that several stations will play FWIW--but how will that impact sales? Hard to say--satellite radio costs money to subscribe to and requires special equipment--in this economy, attracting a wider subscriber base has been problematic for XM/Sirius which really leaves a small pool of listeners given that XM/Sirius customers are divided up all across their many, many channels.

But I sure hope that FWIW gets some airplay somewhere--it's my favorite song on that entire album--and it's in my Top 10 of Stevie songs ever, at least at this point.

I have been pondering the decision by Reprise to release FWIW as the second single. The only possible reason I can think of may be a strategic gamble due to the lack of interest by most AC and AAA stations to play SL. If they released another AC or AAA-type single, it may get about as much airplay as SL since IYD, Moonlight or Annabele Lee are also very AC or AAA-type tracks. I think they are gambling that country stations are her only real chance at this point and could give her the boost she needs.

If you look at the radio audiences, it's staggering. AC radio's top track gets about 13,000 spins a week, AAA radio's top track gets only about 2,000. Country's top song gets a whopping 36,000 spins.

Radio airplay is key to the albums continued success.

Secret Love did pretty well on radio, but it definitely could have been played more. Many Ledgies here never even heard it in their local radio markets. I heard it a number of times on AC radio here, and I live in the NY metro area, so for me it was a pleasant surprise when the song was played.

Unfortunetly I haven't heard any new material from Stevie here in SW Florida on the radio. In my opinion, IYD's or Anabele Lee would be the most radio friendly songs. Moonlight is my favorite however I wouldn't really expect to hear it on radio due to the arrangement.

It was all in friendly jest...glad you saw the benenvolent humour in it. At least now I know what w/e means! And very few are "normal people," whatever that means.

I think FWIW would go over well on country radio, but then I've always thought Stevie, if she wanted to, could cross over to CM quite easily...
