I don't have any pics of my own pets doing anything cute.

They all run away whenever I get out my camera.

Arrow Let me be a psychologist for a minute...

When ya'll were talking about getting defensive about our favorite singers/actors/whatever....I tend to think that people who were picked on/bullied/made fun of in school as kids tend to stick up for their faves in a more defensive manner. I was one of those kids that got made fun of for liking certain singers and groups. It gets frustrating when, as adults, it just continues with an even more hateful tone. As a Justin fan, it's very difficult since he's mercilessly been bashed not only on the web but in my life too. I always want to say "But, adults will be nice about it." and I just get hurt and disappointed all over again.

Anyways, just wanted to say that.

Now, post more cute fluffy pics!!!!

Not to belittle your post or anything, but I've yet to meet anyone who wasn't picked on/bullied/made fun of for one reason or another when they were children.

I sure as hell was. You name it, I was teased/tormented for it from elementary school all the way through high school and into college.

I guess it's the same reason many people get annoyed if someone is relentlessly bashing a politician that they support... or, you know, if they bash the 'Time' album.

We all like what we like, and when someone is disparaging what we like, many folks get defensive to one degree or another.

I also think that, of all areas where one could poke fun at a celebrity, making comments about their weight is ALWAYS going to be something that engenders hurt feelings. A great many of us are not our ideal weight, and are probably self-conscious about it to some degree, so to see a celebrity whom we like and/or identify with, being ridiculed for their weight, it gets the ol' defenses up.

Again, it's just a respect thing.
I don't really think you could take what was said as offensive. It was a convo between Vicki, Dissention & myself that happened to form on the 'Time Album' thread - There were some snarky remarks made - and I have to admit, I made a few myself Nothing awful though...

Sometimes it's not so much what's being said, but who's saying it.
For example, HomerMcVie could get away with poking a little fun at Christine, and I highly doubt a soul would take offense. But if, say, Tommer did it, I'm sure it would be taken very differently.

I make little jokes about Stevie from time to time, and I haven't once had anyone complain to me... but I did ruffle feathers when I referred to Christine as "Fleetwood Mac's Sacred Cow," and I wasn't even meaning it in a derogatory way!

People are just too damned sensitive over trivial things.

Earlier in the same thread where Josh and I were having our fun, Foxyluva called my precious Time "a skid mark on the undies that is Fleetwood Mac." Rather than getting offended, I just chalked it up to bad taste, uttered a few curse words under my breath (but did not type a reply), and moved on.

Oh, I definitely don't disagree with you (and I sometimes find myself very embarrassed by the violent way in which some Stevie fans respond to any criticism of her), but I think that's when we have to exercise a little self-restraint and try to respect that their sensitivities are different from our own.

I've actually experienced much more violent reactions to even the slightest criticism of Christine than of Stevie.

Yeah, yeah. You're not the first one to tell me so.

Most likely not the last, either.

Its most obvious one being that it contains music by Billy Burnette.
