Your daughter is adorable. That's funny, her hands are straight up. What's with the sleep mask?
Thanks. She's 7, and one of her best friends is 10 and has been sleeping with a mask on. Rachel copies her friend in almost every way, really looks up to her (thank God her friend is a great kid, great influence). So naturally she wanted a sleep mask, and Santa got her one for Christmas. Unfortunately my young niece stretched it out a bit and it doesn't stay on as well. Rachel is a true girly girl (if you can't tell by all the pink in her room), so of course the mask is pink and sparkly! She adores anything pink, anything glittery.

apologies to those who have already seen this on my myspace.

Is he gnawing on your hand here? So cute! I used to roughhouse with my kitty, and let her rabbit-kick my arm, wrestle with my hand, etc. I had to wear garden gloves for protection.

Cats are fun to watch when they're all pissed off.

And no, I was petting him and he was loving it. No roughouse, just a one handed pet. He's being very docile and lappish ("of laps") there. I don't roughouse him, I only play "ball" or "string" or "under blanket" or "eat this bug, please" with him - he's weird - like he teaches me how to be more respectful . He's never bitten me (unlike my siamese, who loves to bite) He gets really pissed off if I try to reprimand him - He busts this really "suffering, pathetic, whiny, I am right" miaow, and acts all put upon, like "I'm a human being, why would you speak to me that way?!"
I know people say their cats/dogs are like people, or whatever - and I don't doubt - but he really is like a person. He's like a person/dog/cat. But he's a better "person" than me.
However, I do know my other cats are not like that, not like people at all - so I'm not crazy in thinking that he is more like a person/dog.

Did I ever remember to say how cute you and the kid and the cat were from the reading thread????

Ahh thanks! I wish I had some better digital photos of Isabel the cat.

All my cats been teachers, I think. I grew up with Siamese cats, no siblings, and not a lot of parenting Our cat Ra lived to be 22, and she was cranky, smart, and beautiful - and a tough teacher. I think I will try to scan one of the photos I have of her. She was Seal point, old style. BTW, I used to have a blog called, "Raised By Cats".
One of the things I have noticed about my cats is that if you make them mad, or tease too much (not me, but say, a visiting child) they might bite once, or slap once but never more than that, and by "bite" I mean just put their teeth on your hand, not break the skin. It was interesting to watch my cat Isabel show my son how to treat her...and then he became a toddler got braver and bigger, and I had to intervene.

Here is my son seeing snow for the first time, in the Santa Cruz mountains. They were little patches, but he was thrilled.

Does he/she ever crawl inside the plastic and sleep inside the box with the water bottles? Violet does that sometimes.

We have this orange tabby at our house, and when my mom and I got him about 8 years ago, my mom noticed him in his cage at the humane soceity and he was purring sooo much and came right to her. We were trying to figure out a name and I chose Norman after Norman Bates, cause I figured a cat taht friendly must be pyscho!

Well, it was meant to be. Obviously he was looking for a good home and he found it.

everyone all together now - AWWW.

this picture is about 7 years old. take note of how heavy my Stevie devotion was even then. a Street Angel poster, a framed Stevie picture, some artwork (a crystal ball with images of Stevie and butterflies) and behind me my CD was with yet another picture of Stevie in the sleeve. the pooch is my Mom's dog, Sam, a schnauzer (she doesn't get him clipped like normal schnauzers)
