Explosions in London!

I am now hearing that at the moment the death toll on the bus is 2. This sounds incredibly low given what happened to it, and that some of the seats on the top deck ended up down in the street. Sounds like either the toll is going to rise, or the bus was practically empty on top, or there are some seriously lucky people there today. There is a suggestion that someone was on the bus taking the bomb elsewhere when it blew up prematurely... still a mystery.

This is a terrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. I don't understand why the terrorists would have a problem with the fight against poverty, not that this violence is excusable for any reason.

I just woke up -- what a horrible international tragedy to wake up to. As far as I know, all of my London friends are accounted for... thank God...

The first thing I realized when I read about all this, though -- seven explosions on the seventh day of the seventh month. This was definitely planned.

I just do not see a problem with worrying about Americans there and what the global ramifications of this will be; all of that is newsworthy. It would be one thing if that were all they were worried about, but clearly it is not because the vast majority of the articles, etc. are concentrating on the actual event, all parties from all nationalities involved, how Londoners helped in the aftermath, etc.

I am at a loss for words and very sad. The 7/7/7 theory is very eerie and unnerving. There is so much hate in the world I wonder how we make it sometimes. I think I'll turn on some Beauty and the Beast or How Still My Love and zone out for a while. You all take care.

I was talking more about the network news. They are just now beginning to focus more on London, but all morning they have mainly focused on what this meant for the U.S. and made it all about us.

Anyway, I guess it is really irrelevant at the moment. I just hope nothing more happens and everybody stays safe.
