I like those lyrics. I think they are actually pretty cohesive as far as Stevie goes...even a bit, dare I say it...universal?

No one thinks it's alright to be standing in a line, my dear.

I agree that Alice is an aquired taste. I kind of feel that it flubs on the album but really does great live. it has such great form and content live. one reason why I like the song so much. "Like Alice through the looking glass, she used to know who she was", what a great line, love it!

Yes Stand Back live, thats what I meant.

Rolling Stone didn't see it that way.

I love the song, but I never realized how half-baked the lyrics were until Storytellers (which is actually my favorite version). When she's singing "In the middle of my room, I did not hear from you/It's alright, it's alright/To be standing in a line/Well, I would," I chuckle a bit. They're just...kinda dumb.

Did you just rely on RS for validation

BTW - I agree they are kind of silly - but I still love them!

Okay. I don't think it's that dumb. But I don't care anyway. By the way, right now I feel like you are criticizing my firstborn child.... Since, you know, I fell in love with that song, when I was only 10...wait, I mean....8....years disappeared, I could never find it again....

Actually, I quite like all of Rolling Stone's reviews of her albums. They were pretty spot-on in their observations about her music. I particularly liked the RAL review.

I could turn this into something sexual, but I won't.

So let me get this straight - you despise RS unless they are reviewing La Nicks Then - they are okay
