I know all about "Lindsey time"... and it's one thing to take all the time in the world to actually record your album, but if you tell me that your album is finished and that you're releasing it "this year," I'm going to believe you.

So if you tell me that a few different times, and each time a span of another three or more years goes by before that album comes out, then I'm going to stop believing similar statements you make.

I bring up the very relevant fact the man wrote a book full of lies and half-truths, and you dismiss it because it "was written for money and sensationalism." If writing something for money and sensationalism without regard for the facts doesn't erode one's credibility, I don't know what does. Frankly, I'm having trouble even believing you could possibly hold that position. It doesn't make sense.
I guess I wasn't making myself clear... whether or not Mick's book hurt his credibility in regards to other matters, my argument was that Lindsey's pattern of promising an album within a certain time-frame, and then not delivering said album within said time-frame, is damaging to his credibility, where album releases are concerned.
I'm not saying that he isn't to be believed on anything else he ever says... just that even if Lindsey himself states that he's releasing an album, I'm not going to believe him any more than I would believe Mick making the exact same statement.

And Lindsey hasn't done the same thing by promising the release of music that either comes years later or not at all?
That's not raising the hopes of his most ardent fans, only to set them up for disappointment?

I guess we're supposed to just chalk that up as one of Lindsey's cute little quirks... "Oh, that whacky L.B., and his 'Lindsey time'!"... and all should be forgiven.

(And for the record, in the case of Mick's statements to the press that 'Say You Will' would "definitely" be a double-album... those comments were made by Mick at that point in time, because the band had finally all agreed to releasing it as such. It was Lindsey who later changed his mind, therefore invalidating the promise Mick had already made to the fans... and therefore leaving us disappointed once again.)

While I agree with your assessments of LB's overall flakiness and the fact that he's prone to very typical artistic behaviour, I think that LB might have been persuaded to get rid of the double album idea in the end. Maybe the band stood behind it at one point but the managers talked them out of it.

If he was persuaded to not go with the double album then it might have been that someone in the band was playing the hardball with Lindsey. Not too different from Lindsey wanting to take the 3/4 of his material away from the project. Maybe Stevie actually threatened to pull out after 40 dates if the album was a double; it wasn't just her health issues.

All I'm saying is: I don't buy into all that "drop-dead honesty" that Stevie and Karen Johnston are supposed to have, and neither do I buy into it with Lindsey's case. But I do think that LB seems to think these things from the emotional artistic viewpoint at first, and then later on starts to reconsider some facts. His idealism may be occasionally misguided but I daresay that the band needs someone with that attitude.

about those "60 songs", wouldn't surprise me if that meant a handful of songs, but five-ten versions per song.. not that I would mind, of course

Then I'd say you're naive. Stevie, Lindsey, and the Mac never release albums when they say they're going to. It's always at least a year or two after they say it's coming out "this year." I think it's common knowledge in these circles, Le Stew.

Hence my point... which is, and always was, that I'd believe Lindsey no more or less than I'd believe Mick, in regards to release dates.

As a Mac fan, of course I know all about taking release dates with a grain of salt (though the trusting/optimistic side of me still would like to believe that they can actually release an album sometime within the span of an entire year, when they claim they will, or at the very least, not three years later)... but all I was trying to point out was that Lindsey is no less guilty of that, than anyone else.

So whether the promise of a new release comes from Mick's mouth, or Lindsey's, it still seems to have about an equal chance of happening when they claim it will, if at all.

To believe otherwise... well, then, I guess I'm not the only one who can be naive from time to time.

Sometimes these discussions get way beyond silly. If you think Lindsey's and Mick's credibilities are at about the same level, power to you. I know better.

Gee, it wasn't too long ago this board was insufferably full of threads with nothing but complaints about Mick and his fan club schemes. Have you forgotten about that?

If Mick is credible in your book, so be it.

I certainly haven't. Actually, I was quite amazed at the quick turnaround from everyone thinking Mick was the anti-christ to seeing people participate in a Mick appreciation thread.

Hey, it's okay to forgive Mick for his extortion schemes because he's a part of Fleetwood Mac (ooooh!), but it's justice if Martha goes to jail for saving $45,000.

Mick is Mick and Lindsey is Lindsey. The truth is that both of them are guilty for making comments regarding future FM / Solo releases that either never come out or are released way pst the original release date. We must stop expecting the truth when it comes to this matter. I figure when you actually have the new album(s) in your hand or you have seen a new setlist for the concert you attend then you can say it DID happen. But until then just take anything they say with a grain of salt.

Apparently this is a classic example of not seeing the forest for the trees.

You said you won't believe Lindsey is releasing a new album until you hear it from Lindsey, not Mick... and I said that it's about as likely to happen whether it comes from Lindsey's mouth or Mick's.
Because... as has been demonstrated several times in the past, Lindsey's promises of future releases are no more reliable than Mick's promises of future releases.

That was the only issue I was discussing, and I don't think I could have possibly made myself any clearer.
You brought all of the other stuff into it, for who knows what reason.

Nah, it's just that some of us LB fanatics are bothered by this supposed objectivity and "let all the flowers flourish" mentality of yours. You may seem to be one of the most tolerant, well-spoken and liberal posters here but we all know there's this little fanboy inside your heart and it always influences your posts, no matter how eloquently you might type them.

C'mon. Fess up.

(And the same can be said of me too, anyway.)

How about we keep to the topic and not start making this personal.

(Ok, this gave me some hope anyway.)
i doubt it, at least for me....if they're putting in 6 different songs for this leg, that's good enough for me. The possibility that they're doing "Sara" (and hopefully that it follows through on tour) is enough for me. DLMDA is also another bonus. But a couple of others that are "obscure" just totally restored my faith in them.

I wasn't going to see them this time around....I have opportunites to see them at 4 different venues. That's an added bonus of living on the outskirts of NYC. Anyway, I told myself that if they do "Sara" then i'm definately going, even if that was the only song they added. I also said that if they don't do "Sara", but change the set somewhat then i'll consider going.

So, it looks like i have to fork some money over for tix. I still can't believe this....I actually didn't want to have to see them again this time around. I saw them 3 times last year and spend about $500 that i didn't have. And i have it this year but i really needed it for other things. I never thought i'd say this but, "i wish they'd play the same ole set list!"

Why do you think Stevie wears the same black dress? Mick's got all of her stage clothes horded in his wardrobe for his own kicks...
