I really like it, but I thought this was supposed to be a "rock" album?

Well, maybe he didn't mean "rock" so much as he meant it would have a lead guitar, drums and more bass than UTS. Michele |

EH No! Rock means Rock. That song is nowhere near a rock song. However, a nice little song nevertheless. Would have been a nice replacement for Juniper on the UTS Album. I will be pretty disappointed if this new album isnt a Rock album.

Hard to judge the whole album off of the snippet of a song from Amazon. I like what I've heard though even if its only 15 seconds.

I remember that in some interview or another he did backtrack a bit on the rock thing and say something along the lines of "I don't know where people got this idea from." At one point he was even talking about keeping with the stripped back approach. It was his promotion people who promised a more rocking album.
Besides, what is "rock" for Lindsey? He's a Pop artist who occasionally does the odd rock song. I didn't ever see him releasing an album that was going to be 10 variants of Gift of Screws or Twist of Fate. That was never going to happen and if we get two more that are poppy like DYMM then I'll be content. Add in the two or three old GOS rock songs that we're getting and then the two "guitar and voice" things mentioned in the press release and fill the remaining spaces with whatever makes up a balanced album. The press release does mention the opening song being "frantic", or something like that, so that makes four, maybe five, rock songs and that's about as many as Lindsey's ever put on an album before which makes it more, as far as Lindsey is concerned, a "rock" album. At any rate, wasn't the exact wording "A more rocking album". It wouldn't have to be very rocking to rock more than UTS! My granny rocks harder than most of UTS! The fact that we know we're getting GOS, Shuffle Riff/Wait for You and maybe TOF/Right Place to Fade already means it rocks harder that UTS even if no more rock songs are added. |

Very true. I do remember him saying something like "a more rocking album". I'm definitely curious...enjoying the anticipation though.

Well
You can listen to a demo on youtube of Gift of Screws.
I like it. And it's pretty rockin'. |

That's not a demo. If the GOS songs that ended up on SYW and UTS are anything to go by then that's exactly what will end up on the album expect that that Youtube versions seems to skip a bit.

With minor differences, of course- the addition of Stevie's voice on the SYW songs, and additional tweaking on the UTS songs (ex. "Try For The Sun"- the original version is considerably different, and better, IMO)

Yes, I'd forgotten how much he changed TTFTS.

I'm sure the album will have a couple of less rocking songs on it....but the reviews have all stated that this is a "rocking" compliment to UTS. Thats good enough for me.
DYMM is a nice laid back song to close out summer and bring in the fall--I accept it for what it is. Rocking or not, its still a great song. |

I LOVE IT!!!! The verses have an emotional impact I wasn't expecting. This is the strongest songwriting I've heard from him since Rumours or before. Usually his songs are basically message machines for his guitar-work and the lyrics are an after-thought. You can tell he means what he's saying and it's close to his heart. He's a little off-key in parts, but it makes it sound more genuine. It's very hooky and I can hear this being a AAA hit.

How do you figure??? I personally think this album won't get a lot of radio play except on Chicago's Wxrt or that genre of station. DYMM is reminiscent to me of his early 80s stuff (isn't it all early 80s). He really needs a "hook" like Trouble to get this off the ground. |
