Its interesting that some other forums I post on that remain happy and carefree environments for posting have rules to avoid particular subjects such as politics or income etc. An example is :

As you all know, ***** prides itself in being the friendliest board on the internet. With more and more members joining everyday, I feel its time we have to do this dirty deed of setting some ground rules. I know this goes without saying in most cases, but I want to make sure that everyone that visits us will feel as welcome as our veteran members.

For you guys that know me, you know that I really really hate being the bad guy. However, I (and the other mods) WILL BAN members that don't follow these simple rules.

1. NO PERSONAL ATTACKS OR INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE (and I MEAN IT). We love to joke around here but, the joking stops as soon as someone stops laughing.

2. RESPECT THE OPINION AND CHOICES OF OTHERS. Example: If someone puts their *** ***** ****, that's their business. Clicking the back button on your browser is very simple, besides its not like you have to *** it......

3. THIS IS **** AND NOT . Don't bother bringing in disputes that start elsewhere into ****. Mods will just delete those threads.Please keep thread topics in correct forum they will be moved if not.

4.FORUM IS NOT TO BE USED FOR ANY OWN OR COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISE WHATSOEVER UNLESS WITH FULL ADMIN PERMISSION.

5. MODERATORS, ADMINISTRATOR,DECISIONS ARE FINAL.
Relating to all **** members, and posting topics, and all
issues and complaints.

I think its saddening and a huge loss to the members of this site that one of the most balanced and thoughtful Mods this place has ever had has stepped down. I left here a couple of times (Ill-fated of course) and like a bad penny I turned up again. Enjoyed way too manies (Is 'manies' even a word???) company to have left/stayed away in the first place. I never felt any pressure to leave, I just up and left did other things (Geez, How many hardcore Fleetwood Mac fans listen and enjoy Death/Black metal, betcha there's only a few in the world...) and came back rejuvenated enough to hang around some more.

I'm hoping Christy & Pattie are just recharging their batteries (I know I have PM'd Christy a few times in regards to Keith Urban concert tickets) and come back soon, place seems odd without their presence.

Apparently, and unbeknownst to me until recently, Chris/gldstwmn has a reputation for being a heavy-handed moderator (or something). I saw the PM that Chris initially sent to Carrie and honestly thought it could've been worded differently, but in and of itself I don't see that it was such a big deal. The subsequent "so sorry" thread was obviously a middle finger to Chris, and Carrie and others I am sure knew that it would be deleted, and that some sort of action would be taken, re: the horse's behind pictures.

Not that I'm trying to tell the moderators how to moderate, but...if you had let the thread alone (yes, I realize it was against the rules) it probably would've played out and things would not have escalated. But especially with the banning thing, I think you guys played right into the hands of the people who think you're heavy-handed and not impartial.

Honestly, I've never had a problem with Chris, however I think that if her moderating philosophy is one of "if I don't like something, then buh bye" rather than enforcing the rules regardless of what she likes or dislikes, then she does indeed need to step down.

This whole thing is really stupid, and I hope that everyone will please try to put it in perspective. This is far from something to leave the Ledge over, and it's certainly no reason to close the Chit-Chat forum.
