Water For Elephants
I hesitated to rent this because I just couldn't picture these two actors together, Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson. But it turned out alright. Though I wasn't wrong on my initial assessment. Couldn't pick a better villain. Dream House I thought this would be scary...not! Has Daniel Craig been in a good movie besides Bond? In Time The preview looked interesting but the movie turned out to be so-so. We all die at 25. Jack And Jill I might have laughed once or twice during this great comedy. Adam Sandler movies should just have numbered titles. They all contain the same old lame jokes. I should know better by now. |

Snow Flower And The Secret Fan
Lao Tong - Sisters for life. A beautiful disturbing, heartbreaking film. I really wish I had seen this at the theatre. |

I watched Shawshank Redemption and What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Also House of Wax, but we won't go there. I have never seen the first two before this week and ZOMG, Shawshank is my new favourite movie, I cried so hard with what happened to Brooks, and What's Eating Gilbert Grape was alright,.. it was really emotional at times but Leo did an amazing job!

I saw This means war. It was okay, predictable and not my usual thing but pretty entertaining. I had no idea Chelsea Handler was in it so it was a nice suprise when she came on screen even though she wwas basically just playing herself. Her hilarious self though.
I saw the artist last week too and I didnt think much of it tbh. I am obsessed with old movies and I love silent ones so i thought I would fall stupidly in love with this film but I didn't. I think the hype surrounding it made me expect a lot more. I've also watched fingersmith (a film/two part show for the bbc) and various Mike Leigh films again... Naked and Career Girls. I love his films so much (I think i've mentioned this before) and have been watching career girls quite a lot recently. I seem to go through phases, usually it's happy go lucky. But yes out of them all I would recommend the Mike Leigh films and fingersmith. p.s Sally Hawkins is brilliant and more people need to know of her work.

Bad Teacher
Oh what a horrible film. When will I learn? Trust I thought this Clive Owen movie might be good... but no, I was wrong again. Maybe it was the way it ended. The Whistleblower Rachel Weisz did a good job in this movie about human trafficking in post-war Bosnia. It's horribly shocking how many people are victims of this crime. Very difficult to watch, makes the rest of us look like we live in a fairy tale world. |

Out of those 3 I've only seen The Beaver. The Help is at the top of my list to catch asap though. I really liked The Beaver though. I first saw it on a plane and then bought the dvd. It has a surprisingly effective performance from Mel Gibson and pretty solid direction from Jodie Foster. I'm a big fan of her work and wish she'd direct more. It's just a shame that Gibson's personal life overshadowed the film and led to it being pushed back again and again.

last night I watched:
Nowhere Boy. Loved it but the relationship between John and his mother was strange it was portrayed like she had romantic feelings for him. Reading many reviews other people got this feeling too. Strange. Kristin Scott Thomas is brilliant in it too (well she is wonderful in everything). Little Miss Sunshine. I've saw this many times before but i always like to re watch it every now and then. Wonderful film.
